Jcm2000 dead

That would only be 3 hours of sleep, Mitch. I know Ramo seems to run on 5 hours, and I understand late nights, early mornings. But it does catch up.

Any updates on the JCM2000 and DSL? Ramo
It dose catch up, i know it when my mood becomes cranky and im easy irritable….

2000 has been fixed it was blown fuse…. Dsl still needs new tubes but at the moment money is tight so it has to wait…. Although im going to take it to my next gig on 9th

Putting new tubes into this amp is probably a mistake.
experience tells us: The new tubes will probably burn up.

If you would like to bring your tech into the forum, I can show him how to test the board.
If the board is bad, any tubes or further repairs is throwing money away.

Thought I would mention this before you spend any more money on it.

The dreaded Jcm2000: an amazing amp when its healthy but how long is that, really? I've kept mine alive for 28 years now and it's a struggle these last few years. Even the 50w ones like mine begin to suffer the PCB break down with enough time

We are talking about two different amp..:

The one died its jcm 2000 ( blown fuse after cranking it to the max )

My other DSL 100HR ( which has no problems ) needs new tubes , i have not changed it since i got the amp and it has been my workhorse since i got it.

So far its still going but according to tech its not pumping out 100w and needs new tuebs.

He cant explain why my amp blew fuse after cranking it to the max.

That’s what I thought, the amps were being confused.

Is it possible he red plated a tube or 2 and blew the fuse? I had a Superbass that was doing this before I bought it and somehow the seller got it to play and not blow fuses long enough for me to buy it and the problem surfaced once I got it home.

Happened on my JCM2000. One tube just went bad, air leak in the glass actually. Heard it suck it out and then the amp died. Blew the mains fuse and the worst part was i ended up getting a matched pair sent to me? That weren't matched at all lol

Mike, as a result of my scenario, I met a local tube seller. He sold me a set of tubes and even allowed me to bring all my tubes over to have him test them for me. Power and preamp tubes.

What I'm trying to tell you is:
tube testers are only 50% accurate. This is what a tube tester misses entirely:

1. microphonic ringing / squealing
2. loose internal construction
3. frequency response defects
4. Excessive noise and hum
5. Excessive (unwanted) distortions
6. Failure after long-term warm-up.
7. + a host of other defects.....

Which is why there is tube labs, which carefully check for all defects.

One good thing about this seller, he is an honest seller who was in the audiophile business his whole life.
I trust him to do me right over just about any mail order etc type place. That being said, My '72 50 Watt JMP uses JJ's and has done me right now that I fixed the grounding issue on the old style OHM's Selector that was causing blown fuses.

Glad I found it myself after 2 trips to a tech. Intermittent troubles are the worst.

@Amp Mad Scientist

Can you help me with mesa question?

Not sure if i have asked this before ….

Its FX on/off question

I have delay , chorus and boost in fx loop. I also have a pedal that activates fx on/off on Marshall amps…

I have mesa big foot connected to amp….

Knobs at the back are set for foot switch for both of them and fx knobs are set to middle. ( normal)

So…. Here is the question…

Whats the point of big foot , foot switch if i cant activate fx loop on/off and if I have to do it on my pedal board?

Im sure im doing something wrong because it makes no actual sense to have “big foot” if i have to do fx on/off on my pedal board.

I can make a video if you like to demonstrate what im on about?

Thanks

Ever since you posed this issue earlier last year, I gave thought to how to remedy this so you can make full use of this amp/ pedal the way you seek.

What model amp is it again? Video and pics of amp, pedal and controls/ jacks as you are hooking things up will help for sure.

I'm not too certain that a mesa big foot will work on a Marshall amp.
Or is this a mesa amp? And if so which one?
No video capability...
