Jcm2000 dead

Few things to try off hand in order, one by one. If its good, move to the next section:
-Check both fuses on the back
-Check to see that all tubes are glowing
-if you got any extra ECC83 /12AX7 tubes ( preamp ones), start by swapping it in each tube slot one at a time and trying the amp out
-plug your guitar into the FX return only and see if you have sound ( it'll be loud and unprocessed but it rules out that the preamp has an issue)

Beyond that? Tech time

Clock!!!!!!! You got new battery and you are back!!!!!

Good to see you ticking tik tok

Amp is at tech now… we wait nervously for damage report lol

I took it to studio , I cranked it , 10 min into playing i lost sound…… nothing was coming out of amp..

Likely i took other head there so i could finish recording.

Im blessed with my luck ( NOT) !!!!
Which speaker jack were you using? 16 ohm only? Or the other 2?

Generally when I work on JCM 2000:
replace the main board
replace the fuses
replace the output tubes
replace the bias adjust pots
recap the other 3 boards
clean the pots and jacks
test or replace the PT.
Replace the power switch
Jumper the ground on the 16 ohm speaker jack.
Replace the FX loop jacks.

I just saw a link for a new updated JCM2000 board online somewhere. Looked like a private company created a new PCB that solves the bias drift issue with the older JCM2000 DSL's.

Now I can't find it.

Replace all that might as well buy a new one.
It is at tech so not overly relevant?
As it turns out
JCM 2000 has a unique sound that other amps do not have. None of the new DSLs are the same.
And because of that, many musicians are willing to spend 100s of dollars to renew them.
The last one I fixed was like $450 in parts alone.

And, I got the last 3 new circuit boards. :rolf:

Oh yeah it costs almost 1/2 as much as a new amp, or close to it. But then it should last another 10 years.

My amp is alive and well. It was just blown fuse. Im picking it up tomorrow.

Need to re-tube my other head he said valves needs replacing as its not pumping out 100w …. I was wondering why it was so quite…

More money to spend whooooooo ( Not )
