JB--millions in gear

CHeapo 5 watt ebay combo over the giutar techs shoulder LOL

Most likely just there for testing things.

I like Joe B, but I've never understood his need to tour with so many guitars. He doesn't seem to use that many different tunings just capos and stuff (and of course the Morse in Drop D) so it seems weird to me to lug $2M in guitars around all over the place.

HE likes to show them off -- :)

HELL If I had his $$ Id have a climate controlled 18 wheeler full of gear

I missed out on his visit to my favorite local store ---- Jimmys Vintage Music---:(

He likes to show off his gear which I find very boring unless he was giving some guitars or gear away. Joe doesn't do anything musically for me...he's more suited for the House Of Blues that caters to lame white motherf*ckers.

He's a monster player but the only music of his I can really sink my teeth into is the Black Country Communion stuff

Himbly smug - I like that.

His guitar playing is tight, but his music lacks soul. That said, there are a few songs I dig.

I don't dispute that he is a good guitarist but as you pointed out his music does lack soul. I prefer someone like Gary Moore who can really play and connect with the audience. Joe B. is just too manufactured as is a marketing icon for Gibson guitars.

I think I identify with Joe's personality. I think he is probably ADHD - like me - and what may outwardly be seen as him being "smug" is just a byproduct of that. I personally think he's a great musician. But, it takes music like this to really reach me...

I know people (and am good friends) with people who come off like Joe-- some dont have a pot to piss in---
ITs a speech cadence-- a mannerism (possibly) -- I mean he MIGHT be an arrogant shite-- but the folks I know who he reminds me of are not-- its the delivery--

I had a guy working for me once -- HIGHLY intelligent had 2 degrees-- (couldnt figure out WHY he wanted a job at a print shop) --- after working around him a week I realized why ---

AND in all my years in business HE was the ONLY employee a CLIENT ever threatened to SHOOT!!! -- and MEANT IT---he had a dead pan sarcasm -- bad sense of humor-- and many comments (that I learned were sarcastic banter) came off as just BEING A DOUCHE!

I think Joe has this same issue-- plus he has that "S" "slur" speech thing-- my grandson has the same ---so probably got picked on as a kid--

YES his playing is a little flat -- too many notes not enough Soul-- Like Yngwie in a way --

BUT -- I can sure say -- I would like to hang out with him on guitar safari--there is NO DOUBT he KNOWS much about guitars-- OBVIOUSLY greatly ENJOYS guitars---and weather he can play or not-- a guitar collector/lover who actually PLAYS and tours with them (not the "you cant touch it -- dont even look at it") Spinal Tap deal--

I respect the Ferengi in Joe B -- more than the guitar PLAYING ----

I think the majority of us would be very happy if we had Joe B.’s chops. When he is good he is very, very good. He is living the life many of us dream about. He has done a lot to keep the blues relevant in today’s market. When he plays live with guests or as a guest he gives the other players room. I’m not a fan of some of his music but I am a big fan of him.

Couldn't have said it better. I've always found him to be open and honest, willing to share what he knows and geeky enough to talk gear with anyone. He's helping to keep guitar music alive and living the damn dream while doing it.
