You mean you actually see people string their guitars like this?
All the time with Floyd Rose.

I’ve done it. Works fine. What’s the difference with the ball end hanging out of the machine head peg hole, as opposed to the other end of the string? If they were to clip them off, you’d never know.
edit: on Floyd equipped guitars, you’re gonna be trimming the non-ball-end regardless.

Wow. I guess I can see it saving a little time in a pinch, but it looks fugly to me.
He didn't useMaybe a lefty re-strung it?
Just to check my own brain: there's almost no way this would work on a standard bridge though, right? Not having something holding the string behind/below the saddles? All the time with Floyd Rose.

Is it mahogany?
The 1992 is the one. If I play a set neck strat, it could at least be mahogany.According to the article I linked earlier, the 1992 set-neck Stratocasters had a mahogany body with a maple top. However, the 1996 set-neck Strats had an ash body with a maple top.
I heard once that Randy Hansen had probably the first Floyd Rose released ( because Floyd Rose was his tech) and EVH met him backstage asking about it. So that's pretty cool lolThe original Floyd's did not have fine tuners.
I have 2 setneck Strats and a setneck Tele. The first Strat one I bought used around 25 years ago and has a serial number that I have yet to find a decoder for. It’s SE801143, a Signature Edition from what I have googled, but no decoder for the year. I ran across a guy who had a SE9xxxx serial number and he had a Fender authorized dealer certify as a 1989. Even made him a COA for it. I’m still trying to figure mine out. It has the Wilkinson roller nut and the early Custom Shop logo on the rear headstock. I’m in the process of “restoring“ it (a topic for a new thread soon).According to the article I linked earlier, the 1992 set-neck Stratocasters had a mahogany body with a maple top.
