I have not tried one, but I have been actively hunting for the right deal ever since Hackmaster got the Rectoverb 25, which is the same amp as the Mini Rec with Reverb. I will pull the trigger when the time is right. Not in Korea... But, I agree, it's a lot of money - & most US gear doesn't work in Korea with regards to voltage/PSU; hence why I don't really buy secondhand amps on the net.
Thanks for the price feedback, Gents.
Have you tried one, RVA (I'm sure you have, Tony)? I think I might go for the Zombie (which is a cheap version of the mini-Rec) because I just love the Messa clean and lightly driven sounds (does that sound ridiculous?).![]()
Rectoverb 25,
For me, that or the Mini Rec are equally good since I love the TC HOF mini reverb after I made my own "toneprints"Yeah, that's very nice - specially designed Eminance/Messa 12" speaker and reverb tank - probably an amazing amp, but not cheap...
So the pickups are good and great. Nothing wrong with that.I wonder how the Zombie might be through my superb ENGL 1x10 cab.
For not a lot of money, the cab sounds great to my ears.
Engl E110 Gigmaster 110
&, what's the point of having a cab if you're not gonna get a couple of heads to experiment with?
Also, not wanting to start another thread... I am fixing the Cort tele and have sorted out the SD lil 59, and it is nice, just like an SG neck PAF, but it is still outshinned by the Manson bridge pickup which seems to be based on a Bare Knuckle Nailbomb and is utterly superb.
I find that if you are limited in volume, it is always "safer" to get your dirt from a pedal. Anytime you are getting natural breakup, it is too load for someone in the adjacent apartment, or in my present situation, the same houseYeah, you're right, but I am in the middle space - something closer than a Messa than anything I have at under $200...
Here, it sounds good:
Also, as I am learning with my 5w/1w/.1w head - headroom on a clean to crunchy sound is important when pushing a nice cab with the maximum volume you are able... The Zombie 20w should be more fun in that respect than my current 5w head.
I am learning the realities of compression/headroom/wattage - and I almost always prefer my baby Buggera head on its maximum 5w setting; it's just a bigger sound with more scope, space and panorama (if that makes any sense...). In addition, the higher output bridge Manson puppy just pushes that air better even on clean(ish) tones.
I use'd to think that DaveD's nailbomb bridge sound was too heavy for me, but now I am realizing that it's actually the size of the 'breath' that sounds sooooo good rather than the distortion.
What is the standard AC voltage in Korea? Not in Korea... But, I agree, it's a lot of money - & most US gear doesn't work in Korea with regards to voltage/PSU; hence why I don't really buy secondhand amps on the net.

Besides the different wall voltages, what I didn't consider was the different physical formats of the plugs... crazy!
You should have placed your hand next to the spider for a nice educational visual. Are those dangerous?even scarier than that Huntsman spider (which was twice the size of my hand) is the wife of the last 17 years!
