Into the rabbit hole...

Good luck with the project Chef.
That's a tuff looking guitar. I'd try to save it too.

Actually, here goes an off-the-cuff thought: I'm thinking of adding a "fat shim" (to call it somehow) at the back end of the neck pocket, to increase the overall scale distance and be able to adapt the 25.5" platinum neck I have, to the body (originally 24.75"). And put a couple of thin shims on the sides of the pocket to center the neck properly, as the fit is just not quite snug. Still have to figure out the best way to apply that extension to the pocket, though.

Atta boy! Thinkin' outside the box..
That would be a 3/4" heel block / shim, but as long as there's room to redrill the mounting holes, it should be full speed ahead.:dood:
Your thinking is right on with keeping things snug.
Go forth & conquer, my brother.

Yup! I would have to redrill new holes on the bolt plate but that should be not much prob. Just gotta make sure I do the proper countersink on the plate so the screw heads stay flush. Might be good time to find a previously enjoyed drill press in decent state. Deeper into the rabbit hole... dang it!
