This is what the Facebook Member posted, "When Jimi Hendrix (1969) headlined the first (and only) Denver Festival at Mile High Stadium, Terry Hanley was on the board.
The 50,000 music lovers who attended this historic event were also serendaed by Johnny Winter, Joe Cocker, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Frank Zappa, Poco, Three Dog Night, Iron Butterfly and blues legend Big Mama Thornton.
The four fan-powered amplifiers are 350W MCIntosh MC3500/MI-350 mono amplifiers and there are two MC-275 stereo tube amplifiers on display. (1968)"

I am interested in hearing what any of our Amp/ sound experts have to say about the above and the pic. I am not the most patient or tech savvy of guys, so when I try to upload a bigger pic of the image, the site says the file is too large. IF anyone can make a larger but acceptable sized copy, please feel free to add it for us all to see better.

Interesting but that doesn't seem like enough juice for a stadium gig. Gotta be only part of the sound reinforcement system there.

It was basically like this:
the stage amps made the guitar and bass loud.
The PA was for the drums and vocals.
The biggest power amp was 300 watts.
Nobody had really defined the concept of -playing the whole band through the PA system.
Besides which, the guitar amps were much louder than the PA system....

Then came Owsley who basically invented the concept of modern concert PA....he still used McIntosh amps.

And now days: the whole band uses small amplifiers and everything goes into the PA.
The band hears through monitors.
The power amps are 5000 watt.
The stage volume has come down quite a bit.

So that's the difference between now and then.
