Sure. If your head has a direct out, the sound guy will gladly take that. If you’re fine with the sound of a direct out, it makes the sound guy’s job a lot easier, since he doesn’t have to contend with the stage sound of a cabinet.

Of course, that isn’t actually “mic’ing” the amp, but it is providing a feed to the mix.
