The newer Firebird pickups use ceramic mags so the field is much stronger than the vintage alnico ones. I'd try backing the neck pickup off a little and the middle one even more, to see if it resolves the problem. If that doesn't help, you might need to lower the bridge pickup too.

Of course it could turn out that magnetic pull isn't really the culprit. But since the issue appeared when you raised the pickups it seems a likely suspect...

Hey thanks for the info ! kept my neck in stock Gibson spec. I monkeyed with the bridge..it really is too close..but i did find the sound i was seeking. def going to lower it . The pull is very noticeable

I though you might have a three-pickup 'Bird. Now I'm thinking it might be the Studio, with regular humbuckers - is that what you have?

The 500T is a beast and it has not just one but three ceramic mags underneath, one regular bar and two ceramic mag spacers. 496R isn't as strong but it too has a ceramic mag.

I think the standard set for a regular Firebird these days is the 495R/495T - these are the size of a mini humbucker and have metal covers with no holes. This is what I though you had: they're the ones with ceramic rails and super strong pull, because the mags sit right next to your strings with no slugs or screws in between.

I prefer regular hums myself; both my Firebirds are Studios. Never bonded with the bright snappy Firebird pickups, even when I had a '63.

Yeah I was going to say that the G string pole piece looks fairly high. I don't think you need to go that drastic though but some experimentation with pole pieces and moving the pickup down slightly should help
