Ambassador of STACKS in WV SHACKS
Alright, lets clear the air first: i am not angry at anyone who has already received the vaccine or is currently in line to receive it very soon. If anything, god speed to you and congratulations! Secondly, i am not making this a political issue in anyway whatsoever. So if you are firmly against the vaccine, that is ok too, its your choice i guess.
But for me personally, call it greed or selfishness even, but i havent wanted anything more than this simple damn vaccine that is seemingly miles beyond my reach. Why do i want it so bad? Because after a year now of exhaustive precautions, i just want some sense of security and normalcy. Im not saying im going to go out and ditch the mask, gather up in large groups or any of that: i will continue the precautions i have painstakingly done up to this point. But it would be nice to know you are doing it for something other than just survival: a safeguard for the future.
What makes me most angry in this waiting game is the following:
-i live in WV, the state with the highest vaccination rate and distribution system in the country ( how we are, i have no idea) yet im no closer to getting it as i was a year ago.
- i work in not one but TWO massively infected hospitals, back and forth between each other, where all of the staffers ( doctors to janitors) have been vaccinated. When we asked if we were eligible, we were told to "×÷=% off" basically, but were threatened with lawsuits if we refused to work here because we are " essential"
- most importantly, ive struggled daily to prevent infecting my family at home who have safeguarded this entire ordeal. I know being vaccinated still leaves you as a carrier to others, but if my family were all vaccinated, we would essentially be scott free since we dont socialize publicly.
Its growing very disheartening, playing this BS waiting game. At this point, knowing something about WHEN you could get it would make the world of difference. Instead, sitting by watching the world go by and everyone around you getting it, is honestly getting quite old.
