Income taxes

,
I will be having hip replacement surgery in a couple of months. When I had the other one done 6 years ago the bill was over $45,000 and I was in the hospital for a total of 30 hours between the operation and recovery. I'm sure it will be more this time. IMO this is just inherently wrong. Somewhere in the system, probably the insurance companies, someone is making a whole lot of money they don't deserve. I've had a windshield replaced in the same car twice in the past. The first time I had full coverage and the bill was about $645 and cost me nothing. The second time I didn't have glass coverage and cost me about $230. I'll just leave it at that.
Wow. Just unreal.
So again I must reiterate.
We aren't really paying any more for income taxes than my bros in the US, in some cases less by the soinds of it, no insurance etc and all doc visits, hospitals, testing etc costs nothing at the time. And people comolain here that it isn't "free" as such.
Semantics, people. It is universal health care that costs nothing direcrly and there is no break down on oir taxes exactly what it costs.
That's free to me.

Us Canadians are very fortunate to have the Health Care System we have, I wish our American friends had a Health Care System like ours.

This Statement was made years ago, when our Government was looking at adopting our system by a Woman Politician.

All of us in this corner have been looking forward to getting this legislation before us because we hope, at long last, we are going to be able to turn health care from being a business for profit as it has been under private agencies, into a service for the people of Canada. (Canada, House of Commons Debates, Hansard [July 12, 1966], p. 7605)

In reality the only people that do well with our health care system are:

1. Filthy rich
2. Large enough employee force to have bargaining power.
3. Dirt poor - absolutely free services.

Everyone else pays way more than they can really afford. I wish I could move to Canada. I already have the language down, eh? And I love poutine and beer.
