In This River - Black Label Society Cover:

A bit maybe, but you didn’t go full on Kirk Hammett

I theorize it may be because you developed the habit of tapping your foot to the beat? So now you do the same with the wah out of habit?

Yes! That's what I did!!! It's a bad habit...

i agree with the Kirk Hammett comment. I think his skill is largely overshadowed by too much Wah...

I think with Kirk, his biggest problem is he stopped progressing. Kirk was the lead guitarist of 80’s heavy metal in one of the most successful metal bands. Then sometime after the black album he just stopped trying to learn new things.

Also yes, that damn wah... don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Wah pedals and there’s really no wrong way to use one. But he just over does it.

Here's a new solo I recorded this morning. I played it in the #2 switch position on YelloStrat, which is 180 degrees out of phase, so it further emphasizes the "Wah" effect. I kept my original improvised arrangement with the "Country Lick" just for fun.

It's in no way a comparison to Zakk's playing, but I feel like this solo is just "better" than my previous efforts...

Thoughts???
