@gball asked for something more 'current,' so I got all the way up to 2005 with this track...!!!

Friend and colleague Ffej Rednil played piano on this track. I played all other instruments. YelloStrat was used for all guitar parts on this recording. The 'violin sections' are played on YelloStrat using volume swells. The stock position of the Stratocaster volume knob is critical to making this technique work. Bass tracks were laid down on my $60.00 Ibanez Import through a Fender Rumble 40, direct-out to the console.

P.S.

Saturday is a regular work day for us, so we have to squeeze these projects in between "real jobs" and, as such, sometimes we have to rush through them. This wasn't really mastered, so I would appreciate your feedback on how it sounds to your ears.

The mix is fine had you not said anything I would have thought you had all the time in the world for it, solo sounds great the yello Strat is sounding fantastic..

love this tune, R.I.P. Dime , you did great job man almost sounded like Zakk. great cover and playing very talented man.. now time for Parade of the dead cover by BLS :)
 
Here is the re-mix....compare the two and let me know what you think...

I feel like the solo really could stand to be re-composed. I feel like it lacks imagination and I intentionally deviated from Zakk's solo arrangement to be different, but I think the solo could be much, much better.

The solo does sound great with the wha .

I like the first one better overall but the second one has a better solo.. I thin the background vocals were too loud in the mix in the second one. I liked hearing the piano. Possibly the first one with the piano a bit more and the solo from the second one.
