So lately my epi sg Pelham blue limited edition with lyre vibrola has found itself out of my favor more than usual. Not sure why though. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, everything works as it should. I had found it at a guitar center nearly 3 years ago after having to sell my les Paul copy. So this was kinda to fill the "hole".

But lately though it's been crossing my mind to sell/trade it. A few problems with this though. Yes it's a limited edition, it's discontinued but for the life of me I don't know how much it's worth. I see very little on people trying to sell it and when I do it's usually around 400-500 mark which gets me thinking about a low end Gibson like a sg special faded or the sg J. But realistically, it's a epiphone and I don't want to rip someone off. Second issue, never shipped a guitar before, third issue... I'm not quite sure I'd suffer remorse from selling it.

I really don't know what it is, it's just not singing to me and it doesn't help that a few months after I bought it I already thought about changing the pups. I'll admit I saw the lyre vibrola, it was marked as used for 350 so I grabbed it before anyone else did. It was and still is in pristine condition..

Anybody else had an axe that they felt this way about and regretted selling? :/

Hmmm...I have never regretted selling a guitar. I guess that when I decide to sell, my decision is well made. But, I totally understand your issues!!!!

It's funny that after 3 brand new Gibson's (A 2003 SG Standard, a 2016 SG T Series and a 2016 Les Paul 50's Tribute Gold Top) I find myself going back to my super quiet, 1987 Squire Stratocaster that I have owned since brand new.

I think everyone has felt this way. Some have sold them too hastily and regretted it. Some have gone ahead and made changes, like the pup change you have contemplated, and it greatly increased their appreciation of the guitar. Sometime, the guitar is just not for you, which can be impossible to know unless you have owned it a while.

My advice...unless you have an urgent need to find something that works, put it aside and go back to it in a few weeks or a month. Try that again. You may find that when you go back to it, you cannot understand why you ever put it down. If not, try to figure out what bothers you. If it is the pups, change them. If it is something that cannot be changed, or you can't put your finger on it but still do not like it, sell it for what it is worth. If you feel you cannot decide on a sale price, set a minimum and do an auction - let the market decide.

never shoulda let it go----- I;ll NEVER have another..................dont do it

I regretted getting rid of my old 70s POS Fender Bronco(it was given to me for free at a party) eventually. The guitar that I traded it for was my main gigging tool for a decade, but eventually it started to get beyond simple maintenance problems. I'll bet that Bronco would still be chugging along fine under the same circumstances. What was I thinking? The replacement was better suited to my needs at the time by a long shot, but....what's done is done.

I'm real leary about selling guitars now. You know... you think about the ones you let go. Especially nice guitars.

...Oh and I'm getting ready to sell the Midnight Manhattan SG Standard...

I'm moving toward paring down to no more than one of any style...my 2016 R8 is headed out too...

I'm keeping the Les Paul Traditional, The SG with Maestro, The Kauer, the Guild, the V and I have the Ian Anderson Custom coming very soon...and I'm keeping the Solid Rosewood Tele if RVA can sort it out for me.

I have to do a close inspection to see if there are any flaws, but I think it's still near mint...and I'm not giving it away...just looked up two that sold on Reverb for $1200.
Someone sold a poorly modded one with a Bigsby on eBay for $750. The color is uncommon so it will be around $1000

Holy crap that blue sg is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Thanks for the reply guys. I'll head your advice, I mean if Esg is even telling me to keep it as much as he flips guitars, then that's gotta tell you something.. right? Lol.

I'll put it on the back burner for now while I contemplate and plead with my girl to let me get new pickups for it... not quite decided on that..

In the mean time though I most likely will be selling my orange micro terror and a discontinued boss pedal I have (I'll have to look but i believe it's a ps-5 phase shifter) to get the Orange micro Dark.

That brings up another point - the guitar may take on a whole new character through a new amp and you may not even need new pups!
