I think I missed the whole thing from beginning to end. My browser still says 'not secure' though. Not sure what it's suppose to be at the moment...

What happened is.... Drum roll please Drumoid who has recently joined ambassador status!

I ran into a few obstacles while making the switch to the new server. At the present time we can't see the whole site on the new server. I worked on it 3 nights in a row making progress each night, but there is one more bug to kill.... I hope only one more. So far the obstacles I have run into:

When I set this account up with the new host, I did so selecting the option "I already have a domain" and entered thetonerooms.com as the domain that I already have. This should have been no big deal but... In order to access the web site and be able to upload to it requires username, password and host. Username and password are no problem, but they set the account up with host of ftp.thetonerooms.com. Herein lies the problem. the host ftp.thetonerooms.com already exists on this host. So I could not log into the new server. I knew this was a problem and it took over two hours on the phone with this new hosting company just to get that actual server path to where our site is stored on the server. Once I finally was able to log into the sever and upload the files, I thought that the rest would be easy.

The upload process took several hours. I went to sleep while the files were uploading and when I woke in the morning the upload was complete. GREAT! I went to work for the day and came home ready to see how the sight looked... The site was not there! I could see the files in my FTP program, but only the default WordPress site they had preinstalled showed up where The Tone Rooms should have been. Back to the phones with tech support. Seems there was an issue as to what permissions I had to this account and when I FTP the files on to the server, it went to the wrong directory. They should have gone into a directory that I could not see because I did not have permission to access it. Two hour phone call to tech support and then reload all the files back into the correct directory. Back to sleep while everything uploads, back to work, come back home after work and PRESTO!

Now the files are in the correct directory, WordPress is no longer the entry page for The Tone Rooms, but now there was a blank white page with a database error message. OK, time to go to work. Config files adjust, directory and file permissions to adjust and BAM! The cloned site was up and viewable as far as the main page. I tried clicking on one of the forum topics and database error. OK, what now? I then logged directly into the administrator back end, ran some checks and fixes. Still there is an error on the new server. It can't fine the posts that are supposed to be there. I'm sure it's just small absolute path error that needs to be set somewhere in the thousands of files hiding from me. But I'll find it. This has been a busy weekend with lots of family stuff requiring my attention and it was originally my plan to have this completed by Friday night.

So today is Sunday, I go back on call tomorrow. I got all my regular weekend stuff to do today that got put off by doing family stuff Friday and Saturday. I'm gonna play with the site a bit more and try to get it working. When it is up and functioning correctly, you will find it here...

The Tone Rooms

A whole lot more going on to get and keep this place running than it looks like - for sure. What lines are they using (speed/type) for a sight like this. Although I have a computer related B.S. degree in computers and a bunch of certs relating to it, I've been out of it for many years, behind the times on the technology, etc...
