So anyway... I was on my way home from a nice lunch with Adrian yesterday and happened upon this...

Usually I come home with a guitar...

Poor thing was wandering on a back country road with a 60mph speed limit.
Loaded trucks flying by. Had I not stopped, things may not have ended so well.
She was confused & terrified, but jumped right into my car.

Thought I had found her home, but it was a false alarm.
She's someones pet. Still has a shaved belly from getting recently spayed.

So the hunt for this girls home continues, wish me luck, lads.

About 4 months ago, my wife was in the same exact situation where a female black Lab ironically enough, was dodging traffic on the highway. She brought her home because it was late and the shelters were closed until morning. Fed and watered her but the animal shelter picked her up and thankfully my wife had posted all over the local classifieds on Facebook about finding this dog and within one day, the owners were reconnected with her.

So i guess you could try something like that? Good luck and thanks for being a good person!

Kind of related story. About a week ago the wife and I were out front sweeping up acorns from our 100+ year old oak tree when this guy comes running out of the forest and down our driveway. We knew right away he was lost and scared. The forest is full of coyotes. We live on the edge of the San Bernardino National forest and there is nothing but miles of forest to the north and west of us. Our house is in that red circle. He came running down looking like “are you my owners?”. He was all energy and had no interest in playing with us. Once he checked us out he was back up the driveway and heading down the street.

The wife posted his picture on a bunch of the local mountain blogs but no response. Hope he found his way home.

PS - nice move Hack.

You guys are all great, all good suggestions.
My pop thinks I was an idiot for stopping.
So I asked him, what if it was a toddler? "But it's just a stupid dumped dog, he says."
"You could have been killed".
My response was, Dad, had I not stopped, the dog surly would have been killed...
I never had a second thought about stopping.
Took her to my vet this morning and sure enough, she is microchipped.
Vet will check the database & let me know before the day is out.
Someone must be sick with worry. She's a house pet. Well mannered and housebroken.
Her belly is recently shaved, so it looks like she was recently spayed.
No one dumps a dog after paying for surgery like that.

We got our pup chipped first chance we had. Hope we never have to rely on that for her to get home if she gets lost. Getting them
Microchipped is one of the smartest things pet owners can do. You’re about to make a family really happy.

was adopted from the Humane Society.
They chip all the adoptable dogs & cats.
It's a great thing. She also wears a GPS tracker as we live pretty rural and she has gone on tour before.
I’ve thought about the tracker. We officially live in town..... except for that whole being surrounded by acres of timber and bordering a wet land. She gets pretty much free reign in our backyard and our portion of the timber.... works out to be about 5 acres. While I’m not a hunter.... she is. She gets her hunting dog “fix” roaming the yard and trees. But we are always out there with her, making sure she doesn’t wander off chasing a rabbit or deer.

Yessir!!!
Big ol' honkin' Philly Cheese Steak, with peppers, onions & shrooms on a hoagie roll.
Adrian had the Taco Tuesday special.
Every time we do this it's time well spent. Our decompression session.

Once again my photography skillz suk, but here is the happy reunion of man & child with beast.

The girl is one of a set of twins, the guy said they both (granddaighters) were crying last night.
I so love a happy ending.
I also enjoy needless senseless violence in mob films, but this made me much happier.

By the way, the dogs name was Hope.
