OK... time for the second to last acquisition...
What was missing in the stable... hmmm... I got a P90, some single coils, some humbuckers, a piezo... hmm...
I know!!! How about a 2 P90s!!!




2018 594 Soapy! This thing rawks! Last gig I did was nothing but this baby. The neck profile is called Pattern Vintage and whatever they did with this asymmetrical carve is the schizzle I tells ya!
This colour is called Trampas Green, and I really get off on the whacky flame











Great balance. Had to get used to the switch placement, and sometimes I still hit it

Ironically, I live in a town of a million people - we have two Guitar Centers and a Sam Ash, but I've never seen anything but 22s, 24s, the occasional Mira or Vela and various SE models. but I do live in the swamp with a bunch of rednecks so maybe it's just not the market for them. I pretty much only find Les Pauls and SGs as far as Gibson goes as well. Fender seems to be pretty well represented across-the-board though.

At least Sam Ash carries some of the alternative brands like Reverend, ESP, Supro, etc. Maybe I just don't frequent Guitar Center enough to catch these models before they sell out.

I believe that hand hurting on slimmer neck is because the shape of the neck. I had a slim neck B.C Rich, it hurt my hand so bad, when I started back playing after 3 days with my Godin Progression Strat the pain started going away. The Godin guitars have ergonomic necks, it makes a big difference in comfortability. I Really liked the style of the Rich, but I had to sell it.

I love th LP switch on a strat-ish body! The grass backdrop for that color guitar is perfect - it looks like you grew it in your backyard!!
 
And finally... in order to put a knife in my shaggy dog story... last but certainly not least, and my latest acquisition...
The story is that I loved the 594 Soapy so much that I wanted to try the standard version with some upgrades.
I looked high and low for many weeks and was losing hope until I stumbled upon...



It's a 2017 Wood Library 594 Satin with rosewood neck, smoked chrome hardware, Ziricote fretboard and headstock veneer. The satin finish is to die for and feels fantastic. The birds are fashioned from two different shells.
This came to me with a Dimarzio in the bridge, but also a spare 58/15 LT in the case, yay!

















The Ziricote is cool looking IMHO. Each tone knob splits the associated pup when pulled. There's a story about replacing the bridge pup, but for now...

I don't generally do so either. I traded my pops for this one, he really wanted my 72 thinline reissue. So, I couldn't say no and it turned out to be my number one for many years. Only just recently was the throne usurped by the custom shop.

This is still the guitar I use for weekly lessons since it is always in tune and has a wide comfy fretboard. It's hard to tell from these crappy pics, but the color is transparent crimson. The wood grain is very nice and even. And if you didn't notice there's no string trees to muddle up the gorgeous black facade with silver spaghetti logo; I think it's actually metal of some sort. Highly reflective.

It also has the micro tilt adjustment and contoured heel like the Elites. Upper fret access is a breeze.

The S1 switching is really more than a coil split; it allows for funky wiring like a super switch. I think position four with the coil split on is the inside coil of the humbucker and the neck at the same time, sorta like a Tele. It does everything I need.

It's worth its weight in, uh.... mahogany?? That doesn't sound right.

That is an exceptional guitar among a collection of exceptional guitars! Exquisite top and a rosewood neck- goodness gracious my oh my!!!
