I agree about the pickups in both regards, and would add that PRS tuners (yes, and this is how I got part of my stage name) and bridges are some of the best in the business.PRS has some really good puppies, and, in the cheaper models, some very average puppies - just like Epi Gibson; both are fantastic until a bit of gain is added...

BTW - this gratuitous beach shot went a long way to balancing out the last pic. Thank you!!

The Mighty Mahogany Strat! I'm still kicking my self for not buying one of those. I generally don't buy new, can't afford to. I should have made an exception. Coulda , woulda, shoulda! It's not a metal machine, that's for sure. But for pure rock, blues and jazz it's a winner. I've got other nice guitars, but they hate trying to follow this class act.
If that was my King, this would be my Queen...

And I'm really a Tele guy!

Please don't make me repost Grumpy's pic from post #99...Forgive me Sysco. I am lost about this post.
@dmatthews is gong to learn quickly about the rampant thread hijacking around here!

2 thinksI don't generally do so either. I traded my pops for this one, he really wanted my 72 thinline reissue. So, I couldn't say no and it turned out to be my number one for many years. Only just recently was the throne usurped by the custom shop.
This is still the guitar I use for weekly lessons since it is always in tune and has a wide comfy fretboard. It's hard to tell from these crappy pics, but the color is transparent crimson. The wood grain is very nice and even. And if you didn't notice there's no string trees to muddle up the gorgeous black facade with silver spaghetti logo; I think it's actually metal of some sort. Highly reflective.

It also has the micro tilt adjustment and contoured heel like the Elites. Upper fret access is a breeze.

The S1 switching is really more than a coil split; it allows for funky wiring like a super switch. I think position four with the coil split on is the inside coil of the humbucker and the neck at the same time, sorta like a Tele. It does everything I need.
It's worth its weight in, uh.... mahogany?? That doesn't sound right.

Yes, Chili. I was not singling you out or even suggesting it was bad. Just letting Dave know we were not so strict with regard to the topic subject matter. I am sorry if you took any offense.RVA You say so, and I agree some thread get " hijacked" But in some respects, I feel most so called hijackings also have some connection to the original post in some fashion or another. Thus it always seems congruent to me unless I only gloss over a multi page thread and lose the connection in whatever posts I miss.
Hijacking may be frowned upon and almost like grounds for stoning like one particular member of a car repair forum I frequented seemed in favor of if someone dared stray from the exact words or topic brought forth by the OP. While attempting to diagnose my Ford F150 pickup, I witnessed this member being hyper strict and even pissy to other members in their methods of posts, questions, and inability to follow step by step diagnostic procedures to arrive at the causes of their vehicle troubles. In other words, he hated parts replacers and those who guessed they found the cause of a malfunction, when they either shortcut or failed to complete the thorough and recommended diagnostic procedure to either get a go/ no go scenario and iron clad diagnosis of the cause.
After my blustering, I just have to say, I am one to never get offended if someone does not stay 100% to the exact topic in any thread.
But to the defense of the guy in the car forum, one of his points I agree with was ... In order to minimize the effort to hunt for where a topic was precisely addressed, STAYING on topic and not hijacking, creates an order that makes finding answers easier when others search for specific repair needs.

A Peavy is one of the guitars that I worked on with this issue (the other was a Strat). The darn thing was cranked all the way up. Again, I am not saying the miro caused the issue. In fact, it may have been in use because of an issue. with a neck that needed correction. However, even with the plate, it is less than an ideal solution IMHO. I think a shim is a better approach on a long term basis.I don't think I've ever adjusted it. It was perfect when I got it. Peavey puts a metal plate in the neck to mitigate that. Haven't had any issues with the Peaveys yet and those are all 30-40 years old now. Hopefully it stays that way.
Rva, PRS TUNERS are nice on the guitars I had, BUT, I only owned 2 very expensive models and an SE Cu22. The expensive ones had 2 versions of PRS locking tuners. Truth be told, I flat out trusted and loved the Phase 2 version on my cheaper Santana 3 over the Phase 1 Winged type that came on the more expensive Santana 2. The winged ones always challenged me to grip tightly with the b and e strings.
Both guitars had the well reputed PRS trem setup too.
