Own a Gretsch, IMHO you are missing out. My G5220 Jet with Broadtron pickups is a delight in quality and and looks is purdy. His name I gave him is SHARP DRESSED MAN. Gretsch has their own tones no one else has. I always wanted one in my lineup and am well pleased , balanced, not really heavy playabilty is great, its a keeper for sure..Mahogany neck and body and finish flawless.

At this point I most likely won’t buy one. Almost did in 09 when I first started looking at acquiring my first electric ever. Would have been a used G6114… New Jet. Short run. Only made from 01-03. Bought my used G400 instead at about 1/3 the price. Some regrets. But not many. I like the Epi. It does what I need it to do.

Not sure your point Rob.... but all brands can be broken if mistreated. Some may be more susceptible than others.... but all can be broken. Seems you're currently repairing a break on a Hagstrom bass and a bass is going to have a pretty beefy neck/headstock. From comments on ETSG, seems SG's are notorious for breaking the headstock. Especially when they get dropped. Fall over. Or the guy walks into a wall while playing.

I had a G5120 for a while. I was in my gear flipping phase so I only had it for about a year. It was a very nice guitar. They definitely have their own sound. I'd buy another one if the price was right.

The tones I get from my Gretsch is like no other guitar I have played, Its a definate keeper for me. The Broadtone pickups are sweet, and with that chambered body comes great tones. This was a very good review and the guy was using a great amp the Orange 35RT which is my main amp..I would highly recommend buying a Gretsch for your stable, a guitar in its own league..

I always liked Gretsch guitars. One of my all time favorite guitars has always been a Duo Jet Firebird due to Malcolm Young but one I always loved that's largely forgotten was the Chet Atkins 6120 Tennessean
