A wise person once said: "If It Ain't Broke, Mod It Anyway". An advise that I applied to one of my overdrive pedals: An SRB 808 Plus, by Effects Pedal Boutique. I don't think EPB is in business any more. The pedal was built by a man name Dave Wireman out of Watkinsville, Georgia, back in 2007. The pedal is based on a Tube Screamer with a couple extra clipping options, and a switch to fatten up the signal. This is a very nice sounding and versatile OD pedal that was built pretty well with quality components. The finish of the pedal was applied very economically.
I was thinking about selling it, but the more I researched the reviews and prices of any used ones for sale, I decided to keep it... AND REFINISH IT!
This is what the pedal look like originally with decal stickers for all of the grahics:
About 3 years ago, I tightened up the wiring just for the Hell of it:

Stripped and sanded to 220 grit:
I used a rotary wire dremmel bit to get the following effect after the sanding:
With inkjet waterslide decal paper, you need to seal the print with clear acrylic lacquer before dropping it into some water:
I later scrapped the above decal, and redid it with emphasis on bolder print.
It turned out OK:
There's actually a thick gloss that's hard to capture with my photo skills. But look at the reflection of the stomp button and the switch below the Level control:
These pedals are rare, but if you find one, they'll be cheap and reward you with Overdrive Goodness.
