Duh!! I had to Google IEM. Last couple years on worship band we had transitioned to them vs floor monitors. Just the musicians. Singers still had floor monitors. Won’t bore y’all with the entire story…. I liked them. Still have the set I bought for myself. What I liked best was I had control over what I got in my ear. As in. I didn’t need the entire band in my ear. Just myself…. Team leader (or at least the singer doing melody)….. and maybe piano or the other acoustic guitar if there was one. I usually stood next to the drummer so he didn’t need to be in ear.

I keep 1 ear open to communicate with band and hear my amp in it's real glory. I have vocals in mine and can do my own mix witn phone app.
It muffles the drums bass etc and really does make it easier to sing. Easier on the voice too. Even good for rehearsals.
Can't see where they would get used for single performer, really, any better than wedges.

Brain had to be partially frost bitten from the Arctic blast sitting on top of us. I knew what IEM meant in the context of a gear forum. Either that or I was still asleep.
Yep. But at 6AM I had to google it to see what it meant. Not proud of that one.
