Ideas for painting pedals

I just got layed of from my lousy, stressful, underpayed job. I've got some time on my hands. I was thinking about repainting some cheaper Chinese pedals for fun. I'm planning on painting it seafoam green with a water slide decal (black/clear 50s scifi graphics) and then a gloss overcoat. Has anyone done this before. I want to make sure the paint adheres well. Any suggestions?

Paint the pedal like this and make an inscription:
Well some people try to pick up girls And get called assholes This never happened to Pablo Picasso He could walk down your street And girls could not resist his stare and So Pablo Picasso was never called an as ho Well the girls would turn the color Of the avocado when he would drive Down their street in his El Dorado He could walk down your street And girls could not resist his stare Pablo Picasso never got called an as ho.

The graphics I was thinking of...

Remember, it would be a black/clear label over seafoam green.
I would also label the knobs, signal in and out, and 9v adapter.
Does that sound like it would hold the paint and waterslide, or would it peel apart?

Metal enclosure, I will sand first. Good advice! For those who are newer around here, I'm a bit obsessive compulsive about this stuff. I'll spend hours on it. I didn't want to be disappointed.

Also, I would suggest you use duplicolour. that is real good stuff for metal things, and that way you know you have compatibility from primer through to clearcoat.

An auto store would be a great place to start, but now I'm all unemployed, all nonvoid, walking around like the pretty boy floyd. Besides, I'm cheap and painting cheap pedals. Walmart might be cheaper. I need to take a look.

The Covid unemployed official theme song...

Thanks,
I have a Masters degree. I took it as a temporary job 10 years ago. I just loved telecommuting. It will be good eventually. I'm just still in shock.

Chubbles, that sucks with the job, but you'll have a much better time sniffin' paint fumes.

As I was looking for stuff to spray on my last glowing frogs ass green project, I discovered an adhesion improver made by Rustolium.
I didn't try it, as I haven't had issues in the past. But it's out there, if needed. Just a thought.

In fact Rustolium has a whole new selection of automotive lacquers.
It's not grandpas sticky old oil paint anymore, boys & girls.

Good luck with the projects Chubbles, take lotsa pics.

Sorry to hear about the job, Chubbles!
Good luck with the painting. I have to admit that each time I built a pedal project, I always purchased a powdercoated enclosure in the colour of choice. I have never painted an enclosure myself.

I never did either. I just figured how hard can it be?

Man. I worked there for 10 years, and everyone was horrible.

I love when folks from places other than Boston can quote that song.
