Ibanez TS-9 vs Joyo Vintage Overdrive Shootout

Okay this is getting possibly confusing to a guy like Ramo...we're talking about 2 separate uses.

Robert is using an EQ as a boost.

I am using an EQ as an EQ.

I set it and forget it, I don't need to touch it or turn it on and off, and it doesn't boost my volume.

Robert is using the same pedal as a volume boost only. It's flatlined, so no tone changes at all, but the output level is slightly bumped so as to provide a volume boost when he steps on it to turn it on, and then again to turn it back off when he's done with the lead.

For @Ramo , I am adamantly suggesting (lol) that he try one out as a core part of his tone, (like I use mine) and that he'll like it

Putting an EQ in the loop of your amp is probably the most underrated effect there is. Absolutely will change your amp into a monster! Plus, you can fine tune the tone to whatever you like! I've had greater changes to my sound with this, than any OD or distortion pedal up front has ever done for me. That said, when I use the DSL, I do push a BE-OD into the front, green and clean. EQ in the loop. The TSL gets a TubeScreamer in the front and that's it. The JJ Jr. gets nothing but an EQ in the loop, guitar straight into the amp.

Anyway, an EQ in the loop can get you close to Jon's toanz all on it's own. Boost the front with your OD of choice and you may like what you can do!
Running an MXR M108 EQ in my FX loop was life changing. I have 2 now, and a Donner knock off, so 3 of my 4 amps have em in the loop. Total game changer. I need to get another so all 4 have one. :ROFLMAO:

And, with the M108, you can also get 12db attenuation so you can have the full out tone at lower volumes for jamming at home.

Never tried to use an EQ as a boost, but if it works for someone more power to em.

Man, Im thick, I still don’t get it.

If i leave them pedals on will not effect main sound? What Im getting at is, dose fx switch needs to engaged this set up to work? I dont want modulations on all the time. Just bear spray rhythm and when i need lead rest of the effects on.
So you don't want to be a tap dancer, but when you wanna lead you have 3 pedals to tap dance on?

I may suggest plugging guitar straight into amp. Tune it to sound as best you can. Add the EQ to the loop. Start with all sliders running level, and adjust from there. Don't boost or lower the volume slider, keep it at center. Personally I like a bit of a smile shape, but don't scoop too many mids. It will be tempting to though lol! Next, add an OD. Adjust so that you are clear but no muddy lows or ice pick trebles. At this point, you can also make small tweaks to the knobs on the amp itself, if you wish. When you are pleased with the sound you're getting, you can begin to add in the delay and chorus, etc...pepper it in slightly until the flavor is right, and melt some faces!

I also run mine on all the time.
Brings a great smile to my face, and just the way I like to hear my Origins
Thanks

if robert is on a train carrying 2 bananas .... and this train leaves Califuckincation at the same time a 79 Buick carrying Blinkie and his 2 bananas leaves the frozen North .... will a Norwegian deer :poo: in the flower track at Ramos house he just cleared the snow off of ?

Even better. Under precise circumstances, the deer poop itself is actually known to produce diamond bananas, which can be exchanged for different useful items throughout the entire land. Including, music equipment.

I'm pretty sure what Ramo was saying is he clicks on the effects loop in his Marshall amps foot switch so as to not turn off and on his 3 effects all the time .
Just clicks FX on or off .
So then a constantly on EQ in the loop would make him have to turn on and off the other three effects .

Oh I see - that does makes sense.

And another of the reasons I don't like pedals. Who wants to tap dance all over the pedals all the time? I sure don't any more than the next guy.

His DSL is newer than mine. He has an 100HR, I have a 100H, my footswitch has only two buttons, one to change the channel and the other to turn the reverb on/off, and that's it. Anything running in the loop either stays on, or is operated by good old fashioned tap dancing, so it didn't occur to me before that he may be using the FX on/off button.

More pedals in the signal chain inevitably = tap dancing at some point.

My Origin’s footswitch can turn the FX loop on or off, but I only use it in one of them, to feed the 3210.
And my Dsl40c’s are the same as Blinks 100H.
Cheers
