Ibanez TS-9 vs Joyo Vintage Overdrive Shootout

With dsl I like mxr more too, difference is there makes dsl sound meaner and aggressive. Thats why I use mxr worh dsl and sd with Friedman :)
At the end of the day, it's what sounds better to you and inspires you to keep riffing. For me, the SD1 is the "it ain't broke so don't fix it" OD pedal. I've never not been able to get a tone I dig from a solid amp with that pedal.

In the end, for the most part they're all either SD1 or TS9 derivatives. The MXR is based on the TS9 circuit. Have you tried a TS9?

Nope, I have not tried many things Im very green in gear filed.

All I was saying Mxr works better on DSL to my ears, I wanted to get Iced earth tone and at the shop this guy recommended me sd1 ( he is sick player). So I bring it home cant get Iced earth tone couldn’t be bothered to take it back and I kept it.

When I was using DSL for older metal I would use Sd1 and newer metal Mxr.

The reason I got mxr is, guy on YT with hat and beard did demo and said this is singing lead mode. I wanted pedal for leads so I believed himI wanted but didn have ££££, my brothers bought it for me. So, Im still not happy 100% with ether of those and want to get od 808 red one. Red is more meaner and gainer. Maybe I should sell both and get od 808 :)

Still want Iced earth tone :)

Putting an EQ in the loop of your amp is probably the most underrated effect there is. Absolutely will change your amp into a monster! Plus, you can fine tune the tone to whatever you like! I've had greater changes to my sound with this, than any OD or distortion pedal up front has ever done for me. That said, when I use the DSL, I do push a BE-OD into the front, green and clean. EQ in the loop. The TSL gets a TubeScreamer in the front and that's it. The JJ Jr. gets nothing but an EQ in the loop, guitar straight into the amp.

Anyway, an EQ in the loop can get you close to Jon's toanz all on it's own. Boost the front with your OD of choice and you may like what you can do!

EQ in the loop is good for a solo boost...no gain increase.

I use FX for leads where I have chorus, delay and tc mini boost. I dont want to be doing tap dancing want keep things simple.

There is nothing more simple than putting an eq pedal in the loop of your amp, setting it to where you like, and leaving it alone afterward. It's not really an "effect" like you would think of one as. Mine isn't even on the floor. It sits on top of the amp, and doesn't get touched at all. It's on all the time, and I don't want it anywhere near my floor pedal (tuner) that I actually do step on once in a while.
I'm telling you bro, it's definitely worth it and it won't turn you into any kind of dancer lol
It's more like extending the capabilities of the bass mids and treble knobs. And it's a game changer!

Lets say you deceived me into buying one, if i put it in fx loop that means I have to turn off the delay, boost and chorus off to have main bear spray sound. Am I wrong?

Why would you have to turn the others off? I see no reason to do so. If those pedals you mentioned are in your loop already, they're already chained together, yes? It would be just adding one more to the chain. It's position would be up to you to decide.

I'm not sure exactly what Jon has in his signal path, but if he has delay, boost and chorus in his rig, you can too.

No!

Just kick on the EQ to boost solo volume.
@Mitch Pearrow SJMP , he is using the EQ on the left side of the board for his boost in his pic above. (correct, Robert?)

See how all the sliders are leveled out across the whole range, and the one on the very right of the pedal (the output level) is up a notch or 2?

So, he kicks that on, and it doesn't make any tonal changes and adds no gain, but the volume comes up a touch so the audience can hear the leads over the rest of the band.

Is this correct Robert?

Right!

Man, Im thick, I still don’t get it.

If i leave them pedals on will not effect main sound? What Im getting at is, dose fx switch needs to engaged this set up to work? I dont want modulations on all the time. Just bear spray rhythm and when i need lead rest of the effects on.

No effect on your main sound! Only a volume boost!
