Ibanez TS-9 vs Joyo Vintage Overdrive Shootout

First, you should all know, I tried this Joyo on my rig at my son's house and it sounded horrible. I wasnt entirely convinced the pedal was at fault. After reading so many 5 star reviews, I wanted to give it one more chance on my home rig.
I picked this Joyo OD up used for $19. So lets see how it does against the actual pedal it is trying to emulate ... the TS-9.

I hope you enjoy this, its my first attempt at doing a full review. The one thing I didn't mention in the video is, I recorded it through a mic and into an interface, so it's not just an iphone recording.
Tell me what you think of the two pedals.

Great comparison! To my untrained ear and computer desktop speakers, I could tell no difference between the two. My vote go's for the Joyo due to the price difference. Same sound, less money, no brainer.

There was a slight difference, but had they not been side by side, I don’t think anyone would notice.
Personally I was shocked at how close the Joyo sounds. You are right, for less than half the price it seems to be a no brainer.

Nice video , I' have lots of joy or drz pedals and I love them .
That said the ts9 had more sustain I think and blended with the next chords better . Just my half a cent ..

Yes. The TS9 sounded richer. But as I said. With out a side by side comparison, I don’t think anyone would know.

I find the joyo more bright and more clarity . I found the Ibanez more gritty. Myself i prefer the Joyo..Good review!

I had a TS-9 and a Joyo Vintage OD. Side by side at my place, I chose the Joyo and sold the TS-9.

They are very close. I am not sure the TS-9 is richer, it just might have a different range on the tone knob. Add a click or 2 on the Joyo, and they may even out

I think the biggest factor here is the price. Everything else is so close right down to the controls.
One thing about the controls. The knobs on the Joyo did feel more comfortable to use.
