I never told you about this, did I?

So far, so good. I’ve only been playing through the clean channel mostly, and it has really good, articulate clean sounds. I put a little bit of chorus and delay in the loop and it expands the tonal space. Haven’t played with the dirty channel, as I put a TS9 or The Engine into the clean channel and can get good 70’s rock sounds. Still need to learn The Engine too.

The cleans really are exceptional.

I’d recommend one, I’ve never been this happy with my sound.

I still may. I really liked it when I played it and for me it had plenty of gain for hard rock/early metal by itself, and could even get into more modern sounds with a boost.

But...I am leaning toward a Mark Five:35 head. It is more money but the added versatility is very appealing, as well as the ability to have crushing modern metal tones built right in.

I have a Mark V 35 combo. Super cool. Channel 1 has clean as required but in Crunch can go completely over the top especially with the mid boost dial. The Solo switch for each channel is nice and while gainy, both channels still have a clarity to them, I am guessing because of the nature of the Mesa tone stack.
Built in GEQ is a nice touch.
Have never tried boosting the front of mine, I suppose one could with channel 2 but seems pointless to me.
It gets loud fast to the point where I changed up PI tube to a 12AU7 to give me more control over volume.
I recommend it highly!!

I've a 5:25 and its a freaking miracle amp. I am thinking about the :35 because it has the same preamp, so all the tones I already love and use, but with a little extra horsepower under the hood for some additional headroom when I want it.

I do boost the 25. Gain on the red channel is usually at about 10:00 and a OD with the gain dialed way back really makes it come to life without getting mushy. Same deal for the Crunch mode, which I keep dialed in to about no higher JCM800 levels of gain (although it can go much more if needed) and I use a boost there too to open it up.

Dry Bell "The Engine?" I love mine. How are you liking yours?

Oh yeah I think I knew you had one. Not telling you anything you didnt already know...not much diff in volume.

I should try a boost to get it over the top and keep it tight. Good idea. Not like I don't have, just never even tried. Lesson - always try things even if it seems pointless!!

Looks like the 3 of us run with about the same settings. I like the tones with both sides engaged, wish it had a 3rd button that would engage both with one stomp.

I usually just use one side at a time. I'm usually using a non-master volume amp, so I like hitting the front with the Marshall input side quite often. And then, I do love the sound of a treble booster.
