Just when you think you've got GAS under control...

...something happens and messes with your head.

Ya'll take a guess...a wild guess...as to what I suddenly find myself wanting!

***insert theme song from Jeopardy here***

I feel almost...wrong...but believe it or not...I suddenly find myself preoccupied with...

(Man, you're not gonna believe this....)

...Les Pauls!!!

I mean, c'mon, man! What the heck is wrong with me. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, that's about the only guitar I'm playing right now....and this is the horrible part...I want another one!

Someone, hit me...kick me....something!

I don't just want another, I want a husk to build my own.

I'm hopeless...

Go kick the dog, that will put perspective back into your life. No dog? Must be a neighbour with one.

NO. Don't kick the dog! Kick the neighbour. The ensuing black eye will put back the perspective.

Or - go ahead, build the Les Paul. And give us pictures.

Is there a line forming?
Do I take a number like at the Bakery?

I dont usually agree with or quote the instant gratification 'me first' crowd, but
"If it feels good, do it!!"

Do it! Do it!

What does the one you are playing lack, what unfulfilled lust does it not satisfy?
Or, the More is Better method is fine by me as well.

What does it lack?

Keeping everything in the Les Paul context here...nothing! It's actually quite nice. As I have been playing it nearly exclusively for the last several days, I've really been focusing on reaching those upper frets that I used to avoid on this guitar. I'm finding I'm getting the knack of it as my hand gets used to the stretching. But, the thought hit me of getting a Les Paul Studio husk and hot-rodding it. It's been a hard thought to shake!

I'm not sure how you hot rod a Les Paul Studio - it's a pretty darn near perfect guitar.

Boy oh boy Smit, your reading my mind.

As you may know, I just assembled an LP.. Well, in my typical fashion, I did so without any actual experience with one. I figured it's a Les Paul and I'll love it. It didn't work that way.....damn, this thing is heavy...I can't reach the frets for lead....my hand/arm doesn't rest the same.....

Well, that's all behind me. Les Pauls are awesome, come to find out. I can't put this thing down now.. So, you GAS up and get yourself another one. You can always sell it. Do it!!

Oh...I can think of a few tweaks! They may prove objectionable to the Les Paul purist...but I have some ideas!

Here's a Les Paul with good upper fret access that you can build Smitty without being sued by Gibson.;)

Funny stuff there, smitty...

Around late '76, I got my first guitar. It was a LP copy with a bolt-on neck. I thought it was cool. Others didn't, because it wasn't a real LP. Two years later, I got what I really wanted... an SG. Still have the SG. Back to the LP: probably because of all the resentment demonstrated by all them cork-sniffing douchebags towards my LP copy, I developed an anti-Gibby LP attitude for almost the next 40 years. Then about 3 years ago, it happened, too. Yes... I became a cork-sniffing douchebag, and welcomed home an '05 R9 Faded Tobacco Burst. Paid up the rectum for it. It is a beautiful looking guitar, plays and sounds fantastic with its pair of Classic 57s. But I will not get another one. I have to save that non-existing space for the right Firebird... :BH:
