I need a new acoustic...

I played about 30 acoustics when I was shopping and I never found a Taylor I would buy...just me I'm sure, but the Gibson's and Martin's just played and sounded better. I almost went with a Gibson, but the body was bigger than I liked.

I'm the same way. They are obviously great guitars, I just don't connect with them for some reason. Every Gibson and Martin I have picked up was good enough to take home, I am just looking for that one guitar that speaks to me.

I feel you...it took me a while before I bought one last time around, why??? Because I had already made the mistake of rushing and returning a couple...acoustics are a different breed and you Must Bond with one...IMHO...

Funny you should say that...

About 3 years ago, I wanted to get a nice acoustic and my budget was $2000. I was looking hard at the Taylors. I thought I was going to end up with a Taylor 314 or 316. Very nice guitars for about $1500 to $1700. Meanwhile, I had this other guitar project going on, and that guitar was at a different shop known for making their own acoustics and they also have a few used guitars for sale. So while I'm over there BS'-ing with the owner/repairman/luthier, I start talking about Taylors and Martins, and few others. All of the suddenly he points to a used Martin HD-28 hanging on the wall that's for sale, and asks me to try it. BAM... it just felt so right... $2000... it's now mine... :)

That's what happened to me...guitar after guitar...some were close and I almost bought a Martin CEO7 until I picked up the 000-28EC

...bells went off, angels sang...the feel the sound it was all there and now it's mine.

NEED a new Acoustic? I NEEEEED a million dollars and cheese knife that works worth a poop

Good point! The acoustic that I have is a perfectly suitable instrument, you could easily and happily gig with it. I refine my statement to I want a new acoustic, and will leave it at that.

I have a Washburn D10N. It is very loud and sounds very decent. I like all sorts of acoustics. Brands I have tried and like are:
Martin
Gibson
Taylor ( They do have some nice ones )
Seagull ( These are under the radar gems ) I like the old parlor sized Canadian ones I played on back in the early 90s. They had great tone, well built and played great as well as stayed in tune.

I'm sure there are other great brands out there.

I was in a different local music store yesterday. This store may become my new store.

Anyway, I was looking at the acoustics. Don't overlook Dean. They had some Dean acoustics and they were surprisingly good for the money.

I'll just leave this here......

+1 on the carbon fiber guitars. They are very pricey, but bullet-proof. They actually sound pretty good and they are impervious to the the normal environmental conditions that plague acoustic guitar ownership.

I get more GASsy looking at nice acoustics that get pricey; expensive electrics dont really ring my bell over their budget counterparts.

I think its all about the craftsmanship and the wood.
Nice wood gives me wood.
And remember, its gets harder to find good wood as you get older.....
