So, yesterday I went to MGR and traded my TSL100 for a really nice 1960A cab.

I tried the G12T-75s on top of my B cab with Greenbacks and vintage 30s. Nope, couldn't hear the B cab. So I swapped the greenies from my pine 412 with the A cab g12ts. Heaven. Now I can hear both cabs and it sounds great. The pine 412 actually sounds good with the g12t-75s using my 1987. It might stay like that.

Next, I ordered a new pickguard and pots for the Flying V.

Going black/white 5 layer with the vintage 30 degree bevel. Will have to decide whether to use the gold or go with black speed knobs.

Next for the real fun.

I just cut the circuit boards out of my JCM 900 2100 MKIII. I am going to build this into a JCM 800 using the 900 chassis and transformers. Going to get a turret board from Valvestorm and go to town. Once I have it working properly as a stockish 800 I plan to add another preamp tube and second gain pot like an SL-X. Since I have a few extra holes I want to try a resonance control too. I haven't had a drink in nearly 4 months. Maybe I should start again.

You picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

There is plenty of little mods for JCM 900 that make it sound killer.
You don't need to rip out the boards.

Cool projects! It's gonna get loud around there!

Suggestion... I'm thinking a truss rod cover in this finish would compliment the new pickguard... left handed of course:

This is the company who makes me all of my custom, mother-of-pearl truss rod covers.

DoubleNeck Truss Rod Covers April 2018.jpg

They will even make a mother of pearl PICKGUARD and I have installed them!!! Beautiful Work!!!

Funny thing is I have been looking at those. Anyone order from these guys? I know they are in Europe, but I'm good with that. Gold logo or silver? I know it will be upside down.

What is probably a more pricier option, WEC Inlay might be able to do a custom trc to fit your Flying V. Many graphic options, but one option would be a "Script" style inlay that copies the Gibson script logo but in a left handed version. You probably would have to send your original TRC to WEC for optimum fit and design. I have bought a TRC from WEC, and the product is excellent.

That would be interesting in an SLX build! That is an amazingly great amp that still flies under the radar for some reason. No nonsense, in your face Marshall crunch

Okay, I just ordered a Gibson logo sticker from Etsy. It's an actual metal sticker on a 3M adhesive backing that is pretty close to the actual Gibson headstock logo and it is gold and the correct size. It's coming with free shipping from Russia, so this could take awhile. I'm gonna get some pickguard material and a router bit and make my own truss rod cover. Stay tuned.

My Gibson sticker actually shipped this afternoon. Anyone want to guess how long it takes to arrive in Minnesota? I'm thinking Feb. 9th just off the top of my head. Now I just have to figure out how to get my sales tax back from PayPal.
