I know I bought a Fender Tube amp!

I'm not stuck on one brand of amp. I like many of them. Fenders are very high on my lists. I have a number of them. Congrats on the new HRD. Some of my favorite Fenders I have are:

1976 Super Reverb
1978 Vibro Champ
1994 Pro Junior

I have a Mexican Blues Junior also. ( Sounds excellent with a Boss BD-2 )

OK Kevin I am blaming it on you........(y) :ROFLMAO:

No sir it has a brown or beautiful tan handle! I smell tweed baby: congrats

You have good taste! I played my Fender for two hours and I did no work. I bought one the external master volumes to cover Fenders loudness problems. Tomorrow night I will blast it.

I fix the design problem of to loud with a Master control box that goes into the loop. I can toast the tubes, distort and never speak to the cops. These amp are very loud and the stock controls do little.
I have Siemens matching 6L6 military tubes from Germany. I really like them in my 15 watt amp and in the Fender they remove the mud. I did not like the stock speaker so I have a Vlntage 30 by Cesltron 60 watt on the way.

I have worked on dozens of the new Fender HRD and Blues Deluxe if you get static it's a bad solder joint. I have a 1993 Fender Blues Deluxe the grid resistors fried

When I get the time I'm making a ODS amp out of it, I did all the modification's never sounded good.

My experience with my friend's old HRD: The best and greatest improvement you can make to that amp is to replace the stock speaker. I'm not saying the stock speaker is bad, but there are replacements that really blow the doors off of it. I highly recommend the WGS Reaper... amazing difference.

Also, my friend gave me the green light to buy and install a packaged upgrade/mod kit for the old HRD from Fromel Electronics. The kit has like 9 mods that can be made to the HRD. The 9th mod is useless unless you want 2 clean channels with no dirt channel. I'll supply more details if you're interested. It really made an "OK" amp into a serious tone machine.

I just had Trevor English at WGS build me a custom Reaper HP 50 Watt with a 55Hz cone option....I'm very happy with the switch from a 1959 SLP to the DSL-40C in terms of size and having on board reverb capability.

I didn't do the C-19 mod because I find the tone good at higher volumes. I did install TAD 7025-WA and EL 34 tubes, but that's it. The WGS hasn't been installed yet, but I expect an improvement over the 90 watt Creamback.

To be totally honest, the old 1997 Marshall VS265, other than a noisy chorus, is a great back up amp. I need to find someone who can address that noisy chorus. It's stock except for a MOD reverb tank and a 12AX7sMH-JJ pre-amp tube....

Fender Amps are easy for me no matter the guitar, I could always do something with them. I never count how many of what I have, I have three Fender Amps. I have a Vox Lil Night Train I need real bad, two watt chrome bird cage. Tones are fantastic. The most fun Monoprice 15 watt amp that needed help. It is a very strong amp that I gig with, loves pedals and my Japanese Black Beauty. Great tubes, reverb tank, a bit of wiring changes and a speaker that allows it to breath. The Monoprice is great for small bars and recording dirty or clean. When I am done with my HRD Fender it will be one of my best amps ever. I giggled with it before I did anything to and I had more fun than the chic with a great buzz and shaking her bottom all over.

I know now how bad the stock speak is and the tubes are very old. I near went with a Weber blue but I heard the Vintage 30 in one and it was amazing so that is the speaker. The tube thing is reverse able but I need a little low volume space. The guy that I talked to and got to check out his amp was so sold on the tube change that I was too. I need to put white knobs on the volumes to see them on a dark stage.

Maybe a glow in the dark paint dot of sticker???

I'm not a big name guy but I look around my play pen and I have three Fender Amps. A Vox and a Monoprice amp. It just happened like that, I really don't plan very many things.

I grew up around Fender amps. They were always laying around the studio. Great for country music, but never liked their tone for heavy gain work...Mom still has several relics from the 60's in the racks...

For the record, the one Fender I would get right now if I were hunting for an amp is the Custom Deluxe Reverb. I passed on a mint used Bassbreaker 007 head for $250. Now it is gone.

I always had the house to myself. I bought a Marshall 100 watt head and I had a 2X12 cab with my 1969 Les Paul all set to go. The amp was dimed my live in run away girl and I went two rooms away and blasted it! It was like the voice of God, so loud the hall chandler was swinging. Cathy said never do that again cause we will be loaded with cops. That was an outside amp. My only Marshall experience.

My Fender Mustang has a Super Sonic preset stock from them. I don't believe I would care for that Amp. I sure the real thing is not as poopy nosing but close.
