I Have Changed, So Change Things Must:

I guess you don't like Philly...no? They make the best cheese steak sandwiches in the world! You should move to Philly Tony Manhattan...the city of brotherly love and you can have all the Philly & steak cheese sandwiches until your heart's desire while playing in their orchestra.

New York will miss you severely while taking your dawg fo a walk in da pawk while drinking lots of cwoffee like regular white New Yorkers do themselves from attack from fellow New Yorkers who are not so white. Do it Tony!

I appreciate you taking the time to post this and I wanted to respond.

I grew up playing covers. That's how we got to play assemblies and half time shows. Each time I play a cover from that era, I relive those days over again in my mind.

I have developed my own style and I just don't really like it. I still write and record my own stuff, but I don't like my creations. They don't bring me the same joy playing a bunch of 80's covers do.

Right now, at this stage in my life, I want as much enjoyment as possible....

Hey...whatever suits you. I don't mind cover bands if they are good. I guess I don't have the patience to learn other people's material at my age now. I just fool around on my guitar trying to invent new guitar licks and so on. Doing cover tunes for me is a learning process that is difficult as I get older.

I just make up my own stuff now to see if I can come up with a classic hit or not. I find I keep playing the same stuff over & over again like I'm caught in a rut so that"s why I try to improvise to improve my guitar playing. Every guitarist is different in their approach to guitar. Keep doing what you want to do Robert...that's what counts.

I may have even found an Ibanez Destroyer II DT555....After years of searching....

I did get another 1.75 litre bottle today!!!

Good for you. You're back in the club. Might I make a suggestion? Try Laphroig single-malt. It's the most pungent and flavourful scotch whiskies of all time. I've tried them all...even 30 year old scotch. I'm an expert as you can tell. I"ve worked in a liquor and beer warehouse for over ten years and I've had many samples. It comes with age.

Hmmmm...I just might. I been partial to Chivas Regal for many years...

Music has always been powerfully emotional for me. For example, I still tear up every time I hear songs like "winds of change" and "humanity," because my mind sees the suffering and hate that fueled these songs...

I can certainly feel the suffering too when I listen to this tune!

On a serious note, music is music and it takes all sorts, there's no wrongs and rights; if you like the tune then it's good.

Ok I revised my original post that his dad is a drummer, his story says dad plays a little guitar. Also, Avery says he has a teacher who I presume is a very good one. Avery also plays piano.
I also believe even now by age 11 he has garnered manufacturer endorsements. I also think I saw a clip where he had broken his arm and while in a cast, still plays his drums.

Pulled off his website.

I absolutely LOVE drumming, and have been playing since I was two. Some of my favorite bands are KISS, Van Halen, RUSH, Metallica, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, AC/DC and MANY More!

I take one private lesson per week (for drums and piano) at David's Music House. My teachers are Rob Browell for drums and Justin Douglas Schardt for piano. I play all types of music styles, and learn other fundamentals to help me improve as a musician, but the songs I play for my videos, I learn on my own. Sometimes I learn them from sheet music, but mostly I just listen and play by ear.

I love making drum videos of great rock songs, and playing live on stage with adult bands or solo shows in front of an audience. Drumming is so much fun!

And from his Story,,,,,,,,,,Avery Drummer - 5,6,7,8,9 Year Old Drummer
Shortly after turning 7, Avery started working with an amazing new drum teacher, Pat Dilanni of JK Music in Washington, PA, which resulted in a rapid progression of his technical skill and an increase in the level of difficulty of the songs he tackled.

His talent has caught the attention of many accomplished professional drummers who often send Avery words of praise and encouragement via email and Facebook posts. He was thrilled to learn that Mike Portnoy, one of his drumming idols, had been following Avery's videos for years, and had some very complimentary things to say.

In August 2014 Eric Singer, the drummer for his all-time favorite band, KISS, invited Avery to be his guest at their concert including the opportunity to hang backstage with the band and attend their pre-concert VIP acoustic show.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, Avery's dream really came true that day when he was asked to get on stage and perform "Love Gun" with KISS.

In case anyone has issue how this relates to the original post, I guess I am basically saying that like what drives a kid to play drums like Avery began and furthered himself to do,,,,, We, who like Robert expressed, can appreciate the simple goal we all can benefit from with music in our lives. Make it fun, continue to learn and in so doing we will have many moments of fulfillment and enjoy the ride there.
