I’ve had JJs in my Dual Rec for a year and a half(6L6 power tubes only). This set sounds as good as the last Mesa set I had in there... I only flog it now and then these days.

Those poor tubes have been to hell & back.
It's been at least 6 or 8 years since that thing had a whole retube.
Been loaned out, played a couple of all day festivals..

Definitely an encouraging statement in regards to Mesa's reliability...

ITs a TANK-- (and the Moniker of being LIGHT is BULLSPIT) thing weights in at 46lbs !!! its NOT that much larger than my 20 watt Valvestate marshall that weights...er 20--maybe--

To Summerize: NEW matching set of tubes (yes assuming the seller tested them but they seem a reputable company) is better than mismatched road worn old tubes

Judging from the tones coming out the front and the reduced heat coming out the back-- -I think the AMP likes them

and now I am hoping for a rainy "do nothing" weekend.........because I wanna wear them new tubes OUT SON!

I had one of those-- they are nice -- it did "orange" tone VERY VERY well--w/ decent cleans -- my 3rd favorite SS (non modeling) amp of all time--
Just as my Marshall Valvestate SS amp does MARSHALL 80's hair band metal tone -- to a "T"--but sounds poo-ish on everything else
the MEsa -- does everything from sparkling surfie cleans -- to DOOM METAL distortion
JAzz-- funk---fusion-- reggae-- drunk Caribbean Rock N Roll--skae--skee and whoopie wee----- anything

I can not PLAY any of those things of course but I feel better knowing IF I am ever struck by lightning and am ABLE to play -- I will have the amp for the JOB!!

So--- I CAN HAPPILY REPORT AFTER A FULL 5 HOUR SHAKE DOWN RUN-- on off-- FOOL volume (attenuation is such a blessing) low volume and all channels spanked--- the MAIN issue/reason I looked to a tube change in the first place ----- HEAT----has been GREATLY REDUCED ---

last week the on off/standby switches would get very warm to touch after several hours on-- as would the MESA emblem itself---the amp is a good 6 inches away from the wall-- and has ample air flow---

Tube change has reduced that very favorably
