I had an epiphany

The tape is easier to work with than a sheet.

My double boiler set up. I have a stretchy silicone lid that I can put on the red ceramic bowl after it cools down. That way I don't have to transfer the wax to another container. I just keep it on the counter by the stove.

The SG is all done and put back together. I am getting much less hum from it now. There is still a little in the background, but it is very minor now and I am boosting the DSL100HR with a Boss SD-1 at max volume and the amp has the gain on 7 red channel. I'm sure I won't hear anything with a little less gain. Tomorrow I will crank it a little while the wife is at work. Before I was always right on the edge of uncontrollable feedback. It should be better now. I tried @Robert Herndon s idea of potting the pickups, then putting the covers on and potting again. Soldering the lids on after coating everything with paraffin required some cleaning, but I managed.
