I Gotta Be Honest - I Have Failed:

I didnt want to know which was which so I played clips first and heard it soon as the second clip came on I said this is strat....

I myst say with honest opinion I liked first one more than the second. Second one sounded like flat sounds....

first one was more alive hard to explain but i prefer that over strat.

thats my take on this.
:)

I do prefer the first one - the EMG 81TW!!!

But, I guess since I am kinda stuck with the Warmoth neck that's coming, I should reserve judgment for after the neck goes on.

I got one for ya Ramo my friend View attachment 59047View attachment 59048
The neck will get dirty, but the first pic is of one somebody tried to sand down or something, but I left it as is, a $40.00 squire standard, it has the same thickness of a body as my MIM Strat. I paid $50.00 for the loaded pickgaurd.
Cheers

Don't you still have those two Von Herndon pickups in the HH pickguard???

Even though the waveforms are close, there is a noticeable difference in sound..

Not nearly as much as before I made the adjustments to the pole pieces. The waveforms looked totally different.

I'm shocked that adjusting the pole pieces made that big of a difference. I have always considered the pole pieces to provide zero influence on tone and output.

Ok,

Back on 02/19/2019, my drummer colleague and I recorded a cover of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Burnin For You' here in my home studio. This morning, I ripped all the guitar tracks off of it and re-recorded the guitars using YelloStrat through my Marshall Origin 50, direct-out through the Weber Attenuator.

This is just a 2:19 clip

The solo sections were "fattened up" by rolling the tone controls off about halfway...

I will throw it on there and see what it does, I have been meaning to do it for a while now , the ones in it at the moment are pretty hot at 14 something right now, I would have to pull the pickgaurd to see the actual numbers.

Here's a quick test of the two guitars:

Appearing first is the Hellraiser EMG81TW (factory adjusted to 4/64"from the strings.)

Appearing next is the YelloStrat with DiMarzio Neanderthal with the settings given to me by Dimarzio...
Vewy intewesting! I listened to the clip numerous times through a pair of old JBL Control 5 speakers at very loud volumes. Volume output is identical. First clip, I hear a hair more low mids than the second clip. Maybe because of this, I hear slightly more articulation between the notes of the chords on the second clip. Vibrato sounds more distinct on the second clip too. In general, the tones are extremely close when comparing to each other. Nice playing too... (y)
