I fell victim to the new car smell...

Yep. I did it. I pulled the trigger on a new one.
My wife thinks I'm crazy but who cares...
For the last 20 years I've been surrounded in European luxury with a Jag and two Benz's.
It was time to put some $$$ into Benz #2 or dump it.
I looked at a few different things but always end up back at the geezer pleasers.
Another Benz was my first choice, E500 wagon. Miles were right @ 38k, price was decent enough, but the car looked rough outside.
Also had 4 matic all wheel drive & air ride. Two things I just didn't want to deal with.
A gorgeous Audi Quatro wagon caught my eye. Priced right. Miles were right but still had that all wheel drive crap and turbos to boot. Fun test drive, but just not the maintenance headache I was looking for, so...

I just bought a Dodge...

It's nothing special. 6 cylinder base model. But at 300 HP it'll still get out of its own way.
It's a brand new leftover 2016 and they had it year end blow out priced at used car $$$ (20k). I couldn't say no.
With a full factory warranty it was a no brainer.
Haven't had a new car since 1985. I was due.

Funny, I insist on it. What is the deterrent, other than speed off the line (I think, right?)
Off the line means nothing to me. I bought a six cylinder car.
It's just the extra parts & maintenance over the life of the car.
Extra drive shaft & u joints, front C/V joints & axles, added fuel consumption, extra maintenance on front differential.
All avoidable by sticking with rear wheel drive cars.
I'm my own mechanic, and I finally have a car under warranty. Gonna love this vacation from wrenching.
Besides, here in central Fl. AWD's just not needed.
Not a hater, just something I don't want.

I loved the 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on my Evo when I bought it new back in 2005. I also do all of my own mechanical work.

Drink extra fuel.
About 5 years back we had an all wheel drive 4 cylinder Mitsubishi Outlander. That thing drank as much as my 8 cylinder Monaro (Pontiac GTO).

Good point, mine does also. But safety in snow makes it worth it for me. It allows me to go to work on days I would not have otherwise.

No snow here but fuel is expensive, so AWD ... never again.

now with some old school 5 spoke American Racing wheels on it would look great.or Cragers

I've had both.
Put a set of the American Racing rims on a 70 Monte Carlo years ago. They looked good.
Had The Cragars on a 71 Cutlass and a 74 Camaro.
These wheels aren't bad. 18 inchers shod in nice riding and super quiet 235/55 Michelin's.

But look at that 3" gap between the top of the rear tire and the wheelwell lip, it looks like a 4 wheel drive truck.
The front end needs to get dropped too. A full set of 2" lowering springs may be in my future it it doesn't settle a bit on its own.

Other than that loving it so far.
Discovered the sport mode switch today. It reprograms the trans to shift at different points & really firms up the shift feel and response.
The sport mode also acts on the steering allowing a heaver feel when engaged.
Fun around town, but adds over 500 rpm to highway cruise speeds. Not sure it it unlocks the torque convertor or disables 8th gear.
Sure feels like a shift into a higher gear as soon as you turn it off.
Took a ride into St. Pete today to take Pops out for lunch. He dug it.
Still under 200 miles.
