Husk mod - AXL LP

Question: should I tape the neck when I spray poly and do an alternate finish like Tru, tung, or danish oil, or just spray the whole thing with poly and leave the neck with a rough finish?

What you mean ? Im sure your gonna tape up the fret board and i guess it would depend on what you like on a neck finish. Isnt some of those early Zack Wylde guitars have a un polyed neck finish on them.id prolly tape up the fret board then spray the whole thing then scotch brite the back of the neck if thats what you want

Makes sense. Thanks

Poly and Nitro kind of weird in ways.I scotch brited the back of my 2 JR guitars cause the felt sticky sort of but my two Teles i left alone cause they felt fine. Now im still just playing my new Gibson LPJ so ive not scotch brited the back of the neck. Its poly to not Nitro finish as ive read. Both of my Precision kit JRs are a MinWax Poly

Thanks! It should get progressively better with additional coats.

As you all know, waiting for the next stage of the project is not my style, so being forced to wait 24 hours between coats is torture!
You should have two guitar refinishing projects going at the same time. Just start the second one 12 hours later. This way you would only need to wait for 12 hours, to feed your madness.
