My plan is to sell it as is and claim the loss on my taxes. We were going to sell it anyway as soon as the tenant moved out in the spring...

I don't want to deal with any of the fix up efforts and the money dumped in would never be realized in a sale after repairs.

Many agencies come in to scoop up damaged property after a disaster. To them it's a money making proposition...
 
Agreed-- cut the losses -- its way to far to deal with all the B.S. remotely --- and as I said earlier it takes years-- there are still blue tarps on roofs around here from Irma-- over a year ago--I PUSHED the insurnace companies and still took a year to get my repairs scquared away -- multiple inspections and b.s.
1.they only paid a % of the repairs
2. it took a year.....and I pestered them weekly!!!
