House painters accidentally knocked down a hummybird nest with a juvenile hummy on board.

Since the painting operation can't be stopped, I'm caring for the hummy until after the painting is completed.

good on ya man --- good on ya --
we have 2 doves that were orphaned in a storm Shannon dropper fed them -- (now they live in a large flight cage) they cant be released to the wild as they do not know how to hunt or what predators to avoid -- but they have a forever home here at misfits farm
and Irma (named after the hurricane that orphaned him) Coos to me EVERY TIMNE I walk in the back yard -- -- if released in the house his favorte spot is on my shoulder.....go figure... crazy DOVE

We used to hunt Dove, but I never liked the dark meat so I quit. There is a couple that picked our yard to nest. They come back every year...
 
They can be quite friendly and personable.... Irma and Ira have a ball they have bird toys and a nest in the flight cage... Ill miss it for sure the day that Coo Coo doesnt great me when I step out the back door.
 
Bird is doing really, really good....he traveled with me to Burbank yesterday, hung out in the control room and went with me on my daily duties.

I returned his nest last night after the painters left and he slept soundly. I saw an adult visiting him this morning.

Painters will be working in that area today, so our daughter will babysit during the day, and he can be returned permanently tonight...
 
Way to look after those innocent little birdies... good things to all involved. I wish them well.

Coincidence that my wife just received this gift from a friend tonight?.....I think not!!
