Huge Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Session 5

Ambassador of Strings & Wings
Country flag
To those who face Covid 19 everyday where they work and are there to keep the chain of life flowing .We have many Country's around the World that are represented here on TTR. I am sure we have friends or Family that are involved in these areas of all Front line workers. I would like to take this time to raise a glass and toast these individuals who put their lives on the line every day to keep us alive and well. And if you personally know any please thank them for without them, we would be living in much tougher times.

I will list some of the jobs here, and i am sure i will miss some , so if i do, please take the time to add to the list.

Doctors, Nurses, PSW's Cleaners, Grocery Clerks, Truckers Drivers, Police Officers, Firefighters, Ambulance Attendants, Gas station Attendants, Dentists, :cheers2::kissthank:

All respect for the medical /first responder professionals for being in the direct frontline, but like you mentioned Convenience store clerks, grocery workers and delivery drivers: they have been the most important backbone in my opinion. Since everything was shut down at times and yet they were there in mass gatherings against their will keeping the chain flowing, they kept the countries moving and even supplying the med workers. Not praised enough really

Absolutely well deserved thanks to all of them. Add garbage collectors too, a thankless job.

You have gas station attendants?

My mum and wife they kept working through lockdown. Mum works at checkouts at a grocery store and wife works in a bakery at different places.

She has to put up with a lot of crap when costumers behave badly and give her abuse... ONCE someone wanted to buy £300 worth of shopping with fake money and coupons.... when she refused he went mental and gave her abuse saying she didnt know what she was doing, had to call security to escort him out...

Other thing is they expect store to have everything they need and if store dose not , start asking like kids why , why, why?

Thanks.

I'm enjoying not being martyred to make someone else rich until the fourth of January. My mind really needs this small vacation, and lack of stress. Every time I walk into a different customer's front door, I feel like I'm walking on death row.

I just hope we're going to be getting vaccines soon. No one ever seems to think we machinery repair field techs exist (or anyone in manufacturing) when compiling lists of essential workers, even though I'm required to carry documentation stating that I am, in case of lock-downs.

Well voiced thread Nom
And a big healthy thank you to everyone doing what you do
Cheers to a better tomorrow!!
Mitch

I'm surprised you're not as all out bonkers stressed as I am. My friend who plays bass in my projects does the same work as you. His specialty is timber frame house and barn restorations (old original colonial 1600's -1700s), but also does much more. He is always around homeowners and business owners who feel they don't need to wear a mask around him while he's working. He is stressed all the time. Because of both of our lines of work, we have not even attempted to play music with each other because we are afraid of giving each other a death sentence. We're trying to get this across to the drummer who is unemployed, and itching to play, but often doesn't get it.

I agree. I can't wait for a better tomorrow. Hope it happens in my lifetime.

Throughout this entire ordeal, i have worked everyday except for the 4 work days i missed awaiting a covid test, almost entirely in an infected hospital. Because of working there, i got labeled as essential support rather i wanted to or not, because its keeping that hospital going while they were down and increased their capacity to treat more people. Last 2 weeks i got sent to a library to remodel and on that job, there has been 3 cases in that time frame alone including one of our guys ( i work alone from that crew in the cold wet basement so i was practicing social distance aka antisocial distance since i dont care much for them honestly lmao).

I was gonna take off til the new year anyways but got informed today, that on every single job we have, we are combating multiple cases with some other guys up north of ours, now confirmed. Because of this, they have effectively furloughed me this afternoon, until further notice (at least until a few weeks). So this sucks a big ol sack of asses.

Enjoy the time at home with the kids but that doesnt cut it with keeping the cash flow ( i do have a rainy day fund stashed and unemployment should be increased once this bill is signed , so im good honestly). But id be a liar if i said im not bummed out and honestly kinda down a bit. It just isnt natural for me

I don’t have to be in the face of the costumers but when we have to meet them we do have a mask, where I am currently working I have to have my temperature scanned before I can get on the premises, and when I have to get gas , groceries or beer or just in public in general, I wear the mask .
So far so good.
Thanks for the concern Norm.
Cheers
Mitch

Yeah. That really sucks. Sorry to hear.

I’ve been lucky. I did not work for an essential business. When Illinois shut down end of March, I was off till first part of may. I was fortunate. My owners only furrlowed three of the 40 full timers. I was not one of those. I knew once reopened, I still had a job. As for paycheck, the time off caught pay periods just right. A week after getting shut down, got a full paycheck for the previous pay period. The last full week we worked we were owed that. Plus my company was able to pony up two weeks of pays via whatever the government had dreamed up. That covered three of the four weeks I was off. Long and short I only lost one week of pay. We were some of the lucky ones and we didn’t take it for granted.

Then I retired in October. So while the whole Covid thing has kept me home and away from people, overall it’s been okay. Now as long as the two of us manage to continue to avoid infection before we get the vaccine....

At least you lucked up then and didnt hit you in the wallet! Right now with everything going on in close proximity, i honestly dont mind laying low for a little bit until this cools off around here ( hopefully with everyone home, might slow it down on the jobsites at least).

As far as the vaccine goes: my dad and father in law might get bumped up where dad is a federal employee of the Army Corps of Engineers and has a lot of ailments, while my father in law is 100% service connected disabled from the navy and theyve been issuing vaccines to high risk VA patients ( he has respiratory damage). I'll probably be awaiting this thing for a while despite being labeled essential. Im essential enough to keep the buildings up and running but not enough to get the needle apparently lol

If the threat of COVID isn’t enough stress, the number of people not masking here is. They are growing in numbers and have forgotten how to respect the people around them.

Thank you gentlemen for the things you do that keep us all going.

Stay safe.
