When i got my 21 tone harness from Jersey Shore, i installed it, but never really used it.

Then one day, i started pulling knobs and the bassist and the drumer were like, "Whoa, Dude! What the F☆☆k was that!"

Now, that's their favorite of my two Les Pauls, so I'm really warming up to coil splits and phase reversals.

I used to mess around in the studio with my bandmate's LP that had a Page harness in it. You could definitely get some crazy-cool sounds out of it, but it seemed like too much fiddling around with things while you were playing. Now, I have given some thought to dropping one of those into one of my LPs that has 4-conductor wiring.

4 wire is something you must have and the pickups i have for the SG build are 2 wire PAF Gibsons...57' Classics, IIRC???

I'm thinking maybe a couple of DiMarzio Super Distortions might be a cool thing...4 wire too!!!!

Love '57 Classics. One of my all-time favorite pickups, they do everything well, so long as the bridge is the '57+.

Definitely have a love/hate thing going on with SDs though - I have ended up ripping them out of every guitar I have tried them in: they ONLY sound like Ace Frehley to me (which can be an awesome thing if that's all you want). I much prefer the Gibson 500t for a high-juice ceramic personally.

I got asked to sign on to the Halford/Fight Tribute full time and i feel like my palm-muted "chug" would improve with a hotter pickup???

AS gball may remember, my ES 135 which of course I got before my 79 LP, the 135 has 57's, while the LP has the 2 wire T Top in the neck and a Dimarzio Dimeola 4 wire in the bridge. The previous owner added 2 mini toggles for out of phase and coil split for this pup.

One of the reasons that i passed on my Mom's 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom with T-Tops was they just didnt have the punch i needed.

Compared to my Planet Tone Afterburner at 13k with Alnico V magnets, it probably has at lesst double the gain and punch of the '79.

They were GREAT for classic rock though, but no matter how hard i hit them, even my JTM-30 fulky cranked WITH my TS-9, the best i could get out of them was a Lynard-Skynard type tone.

@gball, @chilipeppermaniac - listen to the rhythm guitar tone & presence in this live Halford clip:

I play Pat Lachman's (wearing red shirt) solo - beginning at 1:58 and ending at 2:12.

But, specifically, listen to Pat Lachman's rhythm tone between 2:12 and 2:26....that "Buzzsaw Chugg" is what I'm shooting for.

Nope, YelloStrat has the tone, but the scsle is uncomfortable.

My 2021 is pretty good with the BB3 in the bridge.

the Les Paul Copy is phenomenal with the 21 tone, Jimmy Page wire harness and Planet Tone Afterburner 13k/A5.

Right now, I'm playing both Les Pauls, since we have two different tunings in our setlist.

But, i might try out the SG if it turns out to be decent???
 
Those are USA Jackson Soloists, essentially, PC1's.

Actually, I think some SD clones would get it in the ballpark.

Believe it or not, when I got my Cream color 76 SG, the EMG's in it were an H and an 85

The H pickup is EMG's original single-coil pickup design in a humbucker housing. The H has the same noiseless operation and clarity as its single coil brother ...
