How To Safely Use the Valvestate 8200 Line Outs:

I’m not sure if using the line out mutes the speakers. You’ll just have to try it.

It may be designed so the line out is independent of the master out. This would allow you to turn the master down, while still allowing the line out to feed the desk. Some AV gear is designed like this.

Again, try it and see what you get.
From the schematic Robert posted the line out jacks do not mute anything. There’s just a 2 stage low pass filter and fuses on the outputs.

So, if I understand correctly, running a SS amp with no load is OK, but not with a load below minimum???

Correct. You cannot go below the minimum impedance, but you can go above it. If you think about it, with no speaker attached, the amplifier sees infinite resistance! This is actually a no-load situation. As the impedance decreases, the load on the system increases. A 4 ohm speaker presents a greater load than a 16 ohm speaker.

Dealing with SS power sections is a different paradigm from valve power sections.

Indeed it is!!!
