How to murder a $50/100,000 amp

Well....I made it through the the whole thing. I treated it as a learning exercise.
I learned that I will probably be playing through my Valve Jr combo today, and I will appreciate that I have no compulsion to have an effects unit play anything for me....at free random.
I did not need to see that video to know this...but that video really drives the point home.
Shut up, and play yer guitar.

What kills me is that the way this guy plays, you're gonna sound better through your $100 Valve Jr combo than he does through his $100,000 Dumble.

Listen to this live recording...according to Gary's guitar/amp tech:

"For this album, he adopted a new rig consisting of a prototype of Marshall’s forthcoming reissue of the classic mid-'60s JTM45 head."

To achieve the high-gain overdrive and sustain he desired, Moore relied upon Marshall’s newly introduced The Guv’nor distortion pedal, which was the company’s stomp box interpretation of a JCM800 amp.

"The JTM45 was dialed to a clean setting, and the Guv’nor pedal was the sole source of the tone’s distortion..."

Lol i think Alexander Dumble showed up to sit in because he felt a guilty selling a 6 figure amplifier to this guy. He probably thought " Alright dude, i know you're rich n loaded and it was funny burning ya. Now i just feel embarrassed at myself for doing this to a grown man who couldnt play Smoke On The Water by just the Low E String...."

Maybe not, but his technique is also pretty terrible, and I don't need to hear his clean tone to know that.

I really get the distinct feeling that if you plugged him straight into a clean Deluxe Reverb, his playing would still be laughable.
Indeed, but if he were to be forced to do so...he may improve...or go away. ;)
To me, it’s a clear example of not applying oneself to learning the instrument, and becoming dependent on tech to make up for it...and failure to do so.

No doubt. All the money and equipment in the world couldn't fix this dumpster fire. Im sure if you autotuned it, your computer would catch on fire and kill itself out of frustration trying to fix it.

I played through a few of Dumble's amps and was thoroughly shocked at how average they sounded...FWIW.

God bless the guy, but the most expensive amp I would consider (based on actually playing them) is an Engl Fireball and we're talking under $2,000...
