I have a Jackson. I have looked up the serial number and the only thing I know for sure is it’s made in Japan at the Chushin Gakki factory.
it’s a bolt on, HSS. I think it’s a DK2. I’m pretty sure it’s a 1998

Is there anyway to know more about the specs on this?
Jackson forumThe Serial Number is deceiving.
Is it ok to name another Forum?
I know where to send you to find out what you want to know.
I wish that forum was a bit more active.
I'm almost certain that's a DK2. '98 sounds about right. Jackson moved production of dinkys (at least some of them afaik) to Mexico at some point, but they were excellent MIJ guitars throughout the 90s. Beyond that, I don't know any specifics but I would think there are plentiful resources at jcf. Found myself there when I was looking into my '96 DK2M.I have a Jackson. I suppose you could check the code stamped on the pots, assuming they're still stock from the factory, for further confirmation. That's more detective work, but is an option.I never received my confirmation e-mail from Jackson forum, so I couldnt post anything there. I am on my own.
Here is what I found out so far. (Thank god for the internet!)
When I look up the Serial #9847836, it comes up as 2 possible years. 1998 and 2009.
As for the model, according to the description (DK2 - Japanese-made or Indian-made (in 2002) Dinky with H-S-S layout, rosewood board, pearloid fins, binding on head and neck, Floyd-type tremelo) that matches what I have perfectly.
Here is where I narrow down the year. In 2009 they offered a DK2 in Snow White. I can't narrow down if they offered that color in 1998. I looked at the 1998 catalog and I dont think they offered a solid white at all for any model they made that year. I need to research that more.
The weird thing is, I could swear I got that guitar way prior to 2009. I am getting older and I guess my memory is starting to go.
.... I feel like I'm playing Guitar Detective.
I also found this which looks to be pretty accurate. And no its not worth $7.83 million ... although that would be cool! That's in Rupiah (about $500-$600)

Just hit guitar center. They had no idea what to make of it, other than they were amazed at how well preserved it looked.I suppose you could check the code stamped on the pots, assuming they're still stock from the factory, for further confirmation. That's more detective work, but is an option.
My bet's on '98. Here's an old pic of my '96 DK2MJust hit guitar center. They had no idea what to make of it, other than they were amazed at how well preserved it looked.
Looking at the pots is going to be tonight’s project. Everything on it is original. It was a gift from many years ago. I’m the only owner.

I have tracked down every lead I can find, made deals with the guitar underworld and here is what LiveeviL Guitar Detective has ultimately found out.
This model is part number 291-1000-876
In 1998 Jackson in fact did not offer a "Snow White" option for their Dinky DK2, they only offered a Transparent White that year. In 2009 the DK2 was offered in 14 different colors and patterns, and Snow White was one of the finishes offered along with a deluxe molded TSA appoved (due to 9/11) hardshell case.
The above model number belongs to a 2009 Dinky DK2.
Should anyone want to track down what model guitar they have, I have one bit of advice to offer you.
DO NOT GO DOWN THAT RABBIT HOLE!! Just enjoy your toy.
Thanks to everyone who aided in this investigation.
