this is great! lots of excellent posts and videos.
Recently I a guy who I owed a favor to (He helped me move a durn piano)
told me his son was interested in learning to play bass in the school band
(or orchestra). He was wondering what kind of bass to buy, and apprehensive
about how much it might end up costing him. And then fearful that his airhead
son would then lose interest when it turned out he had to actually practice at it.
So I said, "Your son can borrow that Squier bass you found in the basement and
gave to me. I've fixed it all up, and he can't do it any harm because it's built like a tank." He was also worried about how loud things might get, so I loaned his son my
Black Heart Little Giant amp... five watts with a 12" speaker. I don't think he can do
that any harm either. And five watts won't get him into any law suits.
His son is like 12 or 13 maybe. His dad gets to be a hero, bringing this home...
Look at the expression on the young man's face. See how the electric bass can
change the world...
that's my long strap... he's just taken it outa the case... like everyone's NBD fantasy.
It's really a lot better bass than it looks, having been set up perfectly and with
relatively new strings. You can buy a Squier P-Bass for less than $200, but mine's
worth much more than that... Look at that face.
