How many years you have played continously

Well. That would be a different story. Not even sure how to calculate that one. I’ve never had a period where I pick it up every day. Went several years without playing at all early 2000s. My kid in college had the guitar. Last 10-12 years I generally play a couple times a week. Most of that time I was playing on a worship team once every 4-6 weeks, so of course that meant I paracticed. I’d be a while lot better had I spent more time playing and less time thinking about playing.

I actually started when I was about 12 years old and took lessons. Unfortunately I never stuck with it and only picked up the guitar every few years or so. Since I had to retire 4 years ago I really hit it hard. I don't play in a band but I'm now playing at least 4 hours a day if not more. I love it. Great thread Session. Should get some awesome responses...

0 years. :hide:

I go in spurts where I'll play every day, then I won't touch a guitar for a month or six. I play only for my own amusement, no gigs, no recording contracts, no voluntary audiences. I first started trying to play a guitar 50 years ago. Now ask me how long was the longest I went without playing? 35 years without picking up a guitar. I have yet to play everyday for one year solid.

Played continuously and took lessons from 1966 to around 1976. Took a 30 year break where I maybe played two or three times a year. Then in 2006 I started playing every day, usually an hour it two. About five years ago I started going to jams once or twice a week. About three months ago I started playing and singing solo at open mic’s as well.

In August it will be 33 years. Started playing the summer I was 12. The only lessons I took were the ones we got for half a year, 20 minutes a week in music class in the first yearofmiddle school. The teacher showed us 5-10 chords and taught us to play «Hang Down Your Head, Tom Dooley», «Drunken Sailor» and «Down by the Riverside». That’s what got me started. He was as an old stinker and as uninspiring as can be, but I’m forever grateful.

Thanks Truss-rod keep up the good work on practising that's Fantastic!!(y)

A little over 3 years currently, as a regular pursuit.
Mostly every day, some days just some skill drills unplugged for 45min to an hour or so.

I took lessons in an after school program in the 4th grade in the mid 1970's but didnt stay with it.
I tried a to pick it up a couple of times in the 80's with my younger brother who has been playing since back then.

Bought my first guitar in 1974. Countiuously is such a tough criteria :ROFLMAO: Off and on since then.

Same for me. Keep thinking had I played more over all these years I’d be doing Van Halen rather than strumming Cat Stevens..... or whatever he calls himself now.
