Generally, I like processors a lot for building preset sounds that are very consistent. Setting them up with a computer is the way to go. They’re nice when doing a set list of widely varying sounds. You can build a preset for those really unique-sounding songs, plus some more generic, all-purpose type of presets. That’s generally been my approach, anyway.
Where I prefer traditional pedals is when it comes to ad hoc changes during an event.
I’ve used processors live and had my laptop connected to it to make those quick on-the-fly changes. It does work, but it’s still not as quick or straightforward as just stepping on a switch or quickly turning a knob.
That said, I’m not against processors; I’ve used them and they have some good applications. The Hotone would interest me if it had more flexibility in operation. It does look like a really interesting studio piece, though.
