You know why ?
I saw a show once, where that lady top math scientist, one of the best, has a car accident and looses her memory. She then proceeds to try to re-learn maths and find after struggling to do the simplest equation, that there are more than one way to learn maths, but in school, they only teach one of them. If it's not yours, you're screwed. That explains why so many people hate maths.
Simple exercise to understand what she's talking about.
If I say 5 X 29, how do you do it in your mind ?
I'll go (5 X 20) + (5 X 9)
Someone else might go, 29 being 30 minus 1, then (5 X 30) - (5 X 1)

Yes... But you still have a bit of time to say "Excuse me, I'm about to let one fly free"! As a Canadian I would say Sorry afterwards of course.
