I have. It's quick and dirty...but hard on the tuners. Most strings are pretty thick and stiff down there.

Filthy.
I have been doing this for the past 25 or so years and haven't noticed any problems. Why do you say it is hard on the tuners? I just like it because it seems faster and I don't have to wind as much. Sometimes I won't even do a full wrap.

Also OP, I am an EB Slinky guy but if you go D'Addario you might also want to check out the NYXLs. My tech raves about them but alas, I am an EB Slinky guy.

I have tried 3 different gauge of these strings. I do not like them. To me, they are stiff and lifeless. The best I can put it is that they feel more like wire than strings.

what RVA the Slinkys or the D'Addarios?
-- I actually have NYXL's on my SG --a gift from one of the boys for my B-day... HE said the guys at the store RAVED about them.......they are "o.k." but not that different from the XL's which are cheaper

I meant the NYXLs. Not a fan

The first bend through the post on the low E and A strings kinda marked up the posts on my old N2...I was a Dean Markley user..9s for the Floyd equipped.
It's definitely faster, and easier. But the ball ends have the double core wrapped...so it can be kind of like taking a file to the hole in the tuner post for a couple of clicks on the wound strings, on that first wind up.

D'addarios installed.....action set.....trem fully floating......I am not certain what everyone was bitching about ---- this was not bad at all....yes some extra steps from a standard trem or certainly a hardtail......but --- IMHO not any harder than a Bigsby really (I cussed less and didnt even throw any tools!) perhaps because I owned one years ago thingsw came back to me that others had to figure out in the videos??? not sure....any way --- at this point I am a happy camper......the pups in this blood red bitch are HOT --- it rips roars screams and dives ......ah I can almost smell the 80's ...........sorta like hairspray and desperation......

Dude,

Floyd's are no big deal to setup. I hear so much drama surrounding the process and its really easy, as you have demonstrated.

I use "The Key" for intonation and its super easy and fast too.

I like the "Trem Stop" for live performances, which is easily pulled back for studio sessions...

Good job, Man!

Thanks---yeah it was no big issue......but--- I set aside the time---and TOOK my time--- and all was well...I can see if your pissed.....drunk...or at a gig or something and need to HURRY ......it could be a bitch --especially if you do not have the right allen keys with you.....but on a rainy Saturday afternoon it was actually enjoyable and a great learning experience.

I keep trying to get pics of the finish....its a deeeeep red metalic sparkle actually

I never stress...I've always had my 1987 Stratocaster if I needed to switch...

Yep, my big gripe with them is live performance (and studio work...if I'm paying for time. one of the reasons I set myself up for recording way back).
Even if you have the Allen key, and clippers handy...it's usually pretty dark...among other things.

Very true...I always had a spare guitar, but never needed it. I have bent the 'G' string so extreme that it returned in a flat state, but I never broke one...

For me, the smallest core strings would go first... D and high E...then A....
Wouldn't go out of tune so much as "pop!" At an inopportune moment. Then people start throwing feces...just kidding, usually ice cubes 'n stuff. I did use my backup often enough. I also had to keep a drop D guitar with me...so 3 guitars at every gig.
