Ah, ok. I just pulled the pics of the internet (no info accompanying them) while reading up on the model. Hadnt noticed the Entwhistle pups (small phone screen). Cheers

This was a stock Gibson that Chuck Burge used as a "test" guitar for prototype pickups for Mr. Lester Paul. Chuck was an R&D guy at Gibson and the two remained friends and tech buddies until their final days. To address the wires....one of the handy things about the mounting plates is that they were so big, that you could simply lift the strings up a bit, and slide a different pickup in. There was room for the wires in there too, so they wouldn't get bent or anything. Chuck made these low impedance pickups then submerged them into epoxy for a nice tough little unit that obviously sounds great. This guitar was eventually sold to a guy who used to play bass with Les quite often in his later years.

look at that PICKUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee...I wonder why the neck pick up wires are on the outside of the guitar. Doesn't he know that's a trip hazard?:hmmm::ohno:
