A friend of mine back in the 80s that worked at the Ford factory for many years told me that the 302 is nothing but a 289 with bigger heads. They had to do that because the 289 was too good, didn't break down enough.

Kinda like Chevy. The 283, 302, 327 and 350 same basic block. Throw in the oddball 305 & 307 as well.

I hated the telecaster most of my life. I sort of get them now.

I was able to purchase mine for $200.00 . I had to go to a junk yard for a transmission, and pull it with a bit of help.. but it was my first car.
And after putting in the trans.. I was able to drive it once I got my drivers license.. at 16..
